It must be aging her body to starve herself to be this thin when it is not her normal size.

She’s been this size for many years now.  IMO, it’s healthier for her to be this weight than overweight and the inherent risks that brings.

Plus, as I’ve mentioned before,  imagine all the scrutiny she’s under by the press and by the public at large.  You’re always on display.  That would certainly drive me to watch what I eat.  I see the same kind of thing play out with that Leti person in Spain and Kate in Britain.

hmmm wonder why Maxi did not get that memo?  Thinking

she's healthy weight for her height.

Sorry, I can’t talk about that family much or I’ll get into big trouble.  But I’d say she doesn’t care what people think and is fine with her weight.  Good for her, I guess, but most people are more sensitive to the extreme scrutiny they’re under at that level.  But that’s all I’m going to say before I go too far off topic.

Actually it's much healthier to be heavier than Mary is at her age. She is about three stone away from overweight, let alone obese!

Yes she did I think she was always aware that thin and under weight looks "better" so she took that path and maybe it made her feel better .... often that is an emotional response to issues in ones life .... we can snark but not know .....

She looks both skinny and fat which is so weird to me. She was a chunkier young woman before Fred and despite dieting she has been photographed with cellulite so her body is definitely a flash point for women like me a bit older and menopausal because our bodies are changing and we don't always like it. It is interesting to me to see a woman who seems to prioritize thinness against her natural build. I admire her discipline but wonder about the health consequences. Since she really doesn't have much else to offer it seems her biggest goals include staying sample size. Again this is a weird priority for someone who is in a position to have and do more than focus on herself and all that acknowledging I would also want to present well in front of the cameras if I was a public person. But I think I'd focus on having a nice haircut and a closet of good suits so that my time could be focused on work.

It definitely does. Compared to her sisters, they’re both looking a lot more natural than Mary. Because she picked her bum over her face and it shows. She was obviously always active so she was never in anyway too big or even just big. She has a strong build and it seems obvious she’s entertaining weight controlling strategies to maintain a slim look. That’s hardly a healthy mindset and she’s not a good role model either.

“That Leti person” is Queen of Spain, and has always been naturally thin.  Mary’s best look was when she weighed about ten to fifteen pounds more than this (and with shorter hair).  She looked much better before her marriage - healthy in terms of.weight.  Her current weight is vanity driven, not health driven, and you can see the toll it takes by looking at her face and neck.

By the way, I consider the use of “that Leti person” about someone who not only has behaved impeccably as Crown Princess, but has risen to the rank of Queen, as an affront.  I realize that you have warm feelings for Mary, but “that Leti woman” is such a deliberate insult and in my opinion, your use of it negates anything that you have to say of a positive nature about Mary Donaldson.  As my mom used to say “consider the source.”

Mary is not a naturally slender woman. Look at her 'huge' upper arms and 'heavy' thighs compared to her flat tiny body. They are the two areas harder to get trimmed down no matter how much weight has been lost.

I think Mary’s weight has been a source of angst to her. I still think that story in whatever paper calling her big boned during the time they were dating really hurt her. She started to lose tons of weight after that. She lost quite a bit of weight during her engagement as well. I think Mary eats very healthy which is fine but she cannot fall off the wagon sort of speak because she would immediately gain weight.

For most of my life I was thin, and am almost back at that weight.  My thighs are heavy.  Always have been.  That's just my build.  I don't think 'problem' areas as such are how to distinguish whether she's too thin for her build, but the comparisons to her sisters are more valid.  I think her sisters are more naturally slim and so facially they are ageing much better - perhaps especially because they didn't mess with their faces to the same degree.

Her weight is obviously important to her, and I don't think it's a bad thing as such that she tries to control it.  The issue is whether she is modelling poor choices in her weight management to her children, but they all seem to be quite fit and healthy.

More of an issue for me is how utterly performative she is - she's never relaxed, it's all about looking good for (and at) the cameras.  She never seems to concentrate on the job in hand, rather looking coyly at a camera and smizing.  Ridiculous woman.

She’s obviously eating very controlled. Same as people with eating disorders do so I find it hard to *not* see it as problematic. She was never big. Her weight has never been an issue. She is obviously very active and has always been. She’s obviously very keen on looking a certain way, thus supporting an unhealthy ideal of how women should look. It’s also obvious from the way she so often wears too tight clothes which is frankly ridiculous at her size and budget. Mary has unhealthy issues about herself and while you could argue we shouldn’t dish on her for it, I think most here would praise her if she let it go and were just herself.
