The guys behind the IG account yourtravel.tv found themselves sitting in the row in front of Victoria during a flight from Munich to Stockholm yesterday: https://www.instagram.com/p/B684SGqoenz/

So apparently Daniel and the kids were there too. Estelle on crutches.

The guys spent about an hour and a half debating whether or not they could ask her for a photo, not knowing that Victoria understands German and probably heard them.   She quickly agreed to a photo and was was friendly, charming and down to earth.

So Dan went to Norway from Italy and then went back to Italy to return to Sweden with the rest of the family?
I hadn't realised they were outside of Sweden in the first place.

Nice photo.

That's why I love Vic (despite her awful fashion).

Her mother is German, so I would imagine so.

IIRC she speaks Swedish, English, French, and German.  I don’t know to what level for the German and French but given that Silvia is German I’m guessing that Victoria’s German is pretty good.

Still, it depends into which extent Silvia used German with her children. A Polish acquintance of mine is married to a Dutch man, with whom she has children (living in the Netherlands). If I am correct her children understand just a bit of Polish, according to their mother because she didn't use that much Polish during their upbringing.

I remember that a German president brought German children's books for them and was told they weren't fluent in German. Not sure how good she speaks German now, but she did not grow up bilingually.

IIRC there's a speech published on the Royal court's website which is in German. Whether it was written for her and she practised it I don't know. German and Swedish have a fair few similarities but it's not entirely mutual understanding like Norwegian and Swedish can be.

Good for her for flying commercially. You don't always see that with some other royal families.
