I've a Blackberry Lily we purchased from Mt. Vernon in my garden. When we visited Madison's Montpelier they too had plants and trees/shrubs for sale. We came away with a Box Elder bowl, turned from a tree on the property felled in a storm. I like things like this more than any trinkets - though I do purchase Christmas ornaments!

Gardening is often trial and error when you begin. Keep on keeping on and you'll get there.  Smiley

Wise words. I’m looking at some purple coneflower that I planted from seed last year and thought we’re duds. They look very healthy now and I’m glad I displayed some out of character patience.

I had to look up blackberry lily - how beautiful!

And yes, I’d rather see a grove of trees or a garden than a statue too.

Not really a news piece as such, but a fun article for the foodie I am. Recipes, along with good pictures of food prepartion and royals included, with two especially for children:

The Royal Family's favorite recipes revealed.

https://www.dailymail.co....lys-favorite-recipes.html

* * * There are two pictures of the Queen Mum in the article. In each she is wearing a different large brooch. The first one is the Modern Emerald Floral Brooch, which is now loaned to Camilla.

https://www.thecourtjewel...odern-emerald-floral.html

The second is a sapphire and diamond brooch, with two pendant drops. It was a wedding gift to the Queen Mum in 1923 from her mother-in-law, Queen Mary.

Those recipes are scrumptious although I’m surprised Charles is such a heavy cream guy.  He’s very trim.

Nice use of many photos of the Wales boys as children and discussion of their (shared) nursery favorites.

Yes there is so much heavy cream in British cooking you have to find balance between comfort food and health surely. He does seem active enough. Ditto for Kate and sticky toffee pudding. Maybe she just smells it lol. I guess that's part of the reason why there is a nice gym at Anmer.

Yes the use of old pictures of the boys with recipes that bring back warm memories of the nursery and home is interesting. It makes me a little weepy too quite frankly.

Oh my gosh, I just love her so much. I just wish I could have five minutes with her to tell her how much I admire her.
