Many of this old pictures are easy to find online. I guess due to miscarriages and the state of the Dutch Royal Family at the time Juliana was very welcome and cherished. But papa Hendrik had a big eye for other ladies then his wife Wilhelmina and there are aknowledged children of Hendrik outside the marriage. Mama Wilhelmina was strict, being Queen since the age of 10. Apparently Wilhelmina has suffered miscarriages before and after Juliana.

Juiiana herself wanted to have a more direct connection to the Dutch people. A kind of being more common than a (distinct) royal. A peoples queen.

Her eldest daughter, Beatrix, went back to a more buisiness kind of approach of being a queen.

Quite a surprise to see QE II and Philip at this celebration.

The Shah and Farah Diba were a
goodlooking couple.

It's not unusual that children turn out more like their grandparents.

Wasn't Juliana also the first Queen to send her children to public schools?
