Cats are so dramatic. I clip their nails once a month and they sulk for days.

Oh yeah....

As a teenager I have joined some local vets at their work (at my own request), both pets and cattle. I wanted to be a vet (in specific cattle), but I didn't get in to the soley veternary school in NL. And I thought I knew enough about myself that studying abroad or doing some specific related studies wouldn't do it for me. I have doubted it later on, but yeah live goes on.

Cats could act so dramatic. Even simply not coming out of their transport box including hissing, scratching and biting. Eventually a vet or his
assistent going in with a special glove on. A former sport team mate once told me their (male) cat manage to hold on to all 4 corners of the examination table (such a table without clear edges to hold on to and so).

Recently I got the story about one of the cats of a colleague. The cat had an abcess on her head and was predominantly taken care of and treaten by his daughter. We got a picture how the cat would look at his daughter Smiley Laugh bounce

Unfortunately I forgot to bring my phone, otherwise I could have taken some nice pictures yesterday.

My father has been a sort of hobby farmer for a very long time. He usually has a few cows walking around. Including getting calves from these cows, which in some cases he raised himself. In the past there have been times of about 8 to 10 animals, but in recent years it has been about 2 to 4 (also because of my fathers age and/or health). No calving anymore either. He buys the cows at a young age and raises them.

My father (and also my mother) has a good relationship with the cows. The animals are well acquainted with my parents and very often like to be petted, and can partly be hand-fed. On my most recent visit 2 young cows came running when they saw what my father, who was standing in their pasture, was holding in his hand (specific hard feed; a kind of snack). Now recentely my parents have bought 2 more young animals. Such sweet animals, who also like to be petted, cuddled and which are curious about everything. I have spend a long time petting them, such a sweeties.

Cows are such smart, remarkable animals! A lot of people under-estimate them but they're really like big dogs.

Understandable,

But my parents (and us their children) still eat meat.

Cows are such smart, remarkable animals! A lot of people under-estimate them but they're really like big dogs.

In general many of them are fun. As a child we already knew not to hide (during a game of hide and seek) next to cows. Because they would betray you with their curious stares and behaviour towards you. Also many of them don't know their own weight and strenght when they are trying to get attention of a human. My parents once had a cow that liked to jump on you, in particular my mom, she really had to watch out in the pasture when getting food to the cows. Especially not bending over. Also one time my mom had some marks on her body, one of the cows pushed her a bit enthusiastically into the barb wire.

My dad's current cows are just big kids. A few months ago the oldest 2 went to a bigger pasture. It was hilarious to see them running and jumping around. Not long after that one of them apparently had the chance to explore the area around their new pasture (which is a small woodland in between bigger pastures). My dad came to feed them and noticed fresh cow droppings somewhere he certainly wouldn't expect it. When he did some further investigation he noticed cow marks all over the place, but nothing was broken, smashed or related. Also both cows were in their shared pasture. It is expected that electrical wire (just a low voltage to keep the cows in) was down (low battery or so). So one of the cows got passed that wire, subsequently she apparently stepped over an unhooked piece of barb wire. She went around the place, just curious... And it seems afterwards she just went back to her pasture again
