Apart from the Banffy family, other noble houses who have returned to Translyvania include the Kalmoky, Apor, Mikes, Haller, Dalnok, Bethlen, Teleky, Kemeny, Csavossy, and Barcsay families.

The richest member of the Hungarian nobility was the Esterhazy Princely family who owned 1,000,000 acres of land.

The Kalnoky family had a hereditary seat in the House of Lords in Vienna, Austria. Under Emperor Francis Joseph I, Count Gustav Kalnoky presided over the joint (Austrian and Hungarian) council of ministers. He was minister of the Imperial House and of Foreign Affairs.

Count Istvan Apor (1638-1704) was the treasurer and chief military general of Transylvania. He was granted the title of count in 1696.

Mihaly Mikes de Zabola (?-1662) was a Hungarian noble in the Principality of Transylvania. He served as Chancellor of Transylvania from 1656 to 1660. He was appointed a member of the Royal Court of Justice in 1652.

Count Istvan Szechenyi de Sarvar-Felsovidek (1791-1860) in 1825 donated the full annual income of his estates of 60,000 florins to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His example brought donations of 58,000 florins from three other wealthy nobles.

Countess Kata Bethlen de Bethlen (1700-1759) encouraged industrial development on her estates. She established gardens and nurseries to propagate better stock.

Graf (Count) Emmerich Thokoly (1657-1705) was the son of Count Stephan II Thokoly. He was a leader of an uprising against the Habsburg rule.

Lajos Veress de Dalnok (1889-1976) was born into a Szekely noble family. He served as commander of the Hungarian Second Army during the Second World War.
