Gui's full name is Guillaume Jean Joseph Marie
, so all of his names are included in his son's name. Gui's middle names were in honor of his two grandfathers, GD Jean and Jose
Antonio Mestre. All of Gui's brothers' names end with "Marie Guillaume." As an example, Felix Leopold Marie Guillaume.
Perhaps baby Charles
was named in honor of Grand Duchess Charlotte who acceded to the throne on 14 January 1919. Grand Duke Jean's only brother was named Charles. He died of a heart attack at age 49 on 26 July 1977.
There have been five monarchs of Luxembourg named "Charles," just as there were seven previous monarchs named "Henry."
Charles I reigned 1346-1353
Charles II "The Bold" reigned 1467-1477
Charles III "The Golden" reigned 1506-1556
Charles IV "The Bewitched" reigned 1665-1700
Charles V reigned 1713-1740
Mother's Day in Luxembourg is always celebrated and observed on the Second Sunday of June.
Gui's interview outside of the hospital today.Today is a wonderful day for my wife and for myself. Probably the most incredible day that we will have in our life because to be able to greet the child that comes into one’s life is the most magical thing a parenting couple can have. This experience that we are living today, we are able to share with our country’s people, with Luxembourg as a country. And we are delighted to do so at a time that is a bit more difficult, especially for families that have been separated for a few months which now in the next week are going to be able to see each other again. A birth is a message of hope, it is a blessing. This is what we are so happy to be able to share with Luxembourg, but also over the border with with all the different countries.
