Julie Clary Bonaparte was the wife of Joseph Bonaparte. After Napoleon was defeated at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, Joseph escaped to the United States. Julie never joined her husband in the United States.

Napoleon V Victor (1879-1926) was appointed head of the house of Bonaparte in the will of Napoleon Eugene, Prince Imperial, who died in 1879. The decision by the Prince Imperial to bypass Prince Victor's father led to a complete breakdown in the relationship between father and son.
