I think that with those ridiculous dresses the Duchess is sort of overcompensating their family’s insignificance (let’s face it!) and irrelevance as 'reining nobility'. In a way, she tries to look ‘plus royaliste que le Roi’. And of course her personal taste and preferences do the rest... IMO

But thanks for the pictures Why! Certainly they’ve broadened my ‘royal’ horizons!  Smiley

Diane is a character. She maintains a sculpture studio on the Wurttemburg estate and she has decorated the grounds with her artwork, some of which is rather hideous. But then I'm not a qualified critic. She's pretty serious about it: I've seen her garbed out in welder's overalls and helmet, wielding a torch. At one point, about thirty years ago, she came down with a mysterious illness. Eventually it was traced to some material she was using in her sculpturing. She and her husband are of the old royalist school: all their many children married nobility of one kind or another. Given his wife's foibles, the duke must have a good sense of humor. Or the patience of Job.

Duke Eberhard of Würtemberg got married to the mother of his child born last year (gender unknown), Lucia Désirée Copf, just days ago according to Point de Vue.

I google Copf and Württemberg and found the following link:

http://www.copf-bionic.de/en/

He is Managing Director of the company and a D.Copf seems to be responsible for product development.

Eberhard I (1265-1325) was Count of Wurttemberg from 1279 until 1325. His participation in the war in Bohemia brought in additional funding, which he used to purchase land and towns in Swabia from impoverished noble families. Eberhard I made Stuttgart the capital of Wurttemberg.
