Any other crocheter around?

I would love to talk yarn, patterns and share what we are working on.

I'm n intermediate level crocheter, a bit of a yarn hoarder, and I love learning new stuff and seeing beautiful handicraft.

Anybody else around here?  Smiley

Lover and onetime master crocheter here, I have crocheted everything from lace to bedspreads. I go to estate sales and am I sucker for doilies and pillow cases with crocheted lace edges. I'm in the middle of a bunch of things at the moment but will share some pics when I get time. Problem is I end up giving all my handiwork away!

Crocheter, knitter and weaver. Currently crocheting a openwork number called sand and shells. Knitting a simple sweater, and have nothing but dreams on the looms at present. Will be weaving a table runner or placemats for a great niece's upcoming wedding.

I have a very large yarn stash that goes back over twenty years. Like Karma, I give a lot of my stuff away.

I knit and I'd love to learn crochet but ever time I try I have huge tension issues and my stitches end up all different sizes.  Tension is also my biggest problem when knitting, well casting on for knitting and I did manage to find a few cast on's that I can get right and not super tight.  Before I moved last year I got rid of my whole yarn stash as it was mostly random balls I'd picked up here there with no projects in mind.  I'm working on researching for my next projects...goals for the rest of the year is a top down sweater (probably raglan) and my first pair of socks.  Blanket squares and baby beanies are my go to boredom projects as they're great for donating to hospitals and charities.

I am following a group on Facebook (in Dutch). Very nice ideas, patterns etc. I have seen.

At a relative young age I learned to knit (from an elder brother nonetheless), but am mediocre at it. I can do simple things like little stuffed animals and small items (once knitted a kind of purse (to put in money for a birthday) without pattern and such).

I have never learned crochet properly, but it is my intention. So far nothing has come of it.  Blush

With regard to crochet, I love those amiguri (?) and chrocheted stuffed animals.

I'm as excited as a kid to meet you all here, really. Thank you  Star Star Star Star Star

I've always wanted to learn, but hadn't had the chance: as I was a girl, I thought it was difficult; as a woman, I lived away from my older relatives and didn't have anybody to teach me.  Then I found a lady who offered to teach me, and she did, the first simple stitches. From there I started learning on my own, and I have to say nowadays there are so many videos and online courses in the internet that it makes it a lot easier. So for those of you wanting to try, please give it a go.

I'm horrible at starting more than one project simultaneously.  :8)I must admit!

Try it, Barrie. Get a hook, some yarn, and we'll find a good youtube video so that you can try your first stitches. I tried learning through books, but it is a lot easier in tutorials online.

I am the same, I give everything away! I'll take some pictures of my things but they are really basic.  I'd really love to see your work.  Smiley

I really admire the lace, I've tried once and it was a disaster!  Secret

A few years ago, in between jobs, I decided to participate in octopuses crochet / knitting for neonatal children (the Dutch version). Since I cannot crochet, I went for knitting. But I didn't get any further than a test body, I couldn't get the tentacles together. Unfortunately I did not understand the translated description (Swedish -> Dutch) and I was unable to progress online. Enough clips about crochet, but not a knitting variant.

I find weaving fantastic! I did quilts for a long time, and in my quilt group there's a lady who does loving things and she made a demonstration for us.

How do you keep track of your yarn? I bought a notebook now to write some of it down. I sometimes see a pattern, get excited , buy the yarn. But then I don't do it right away for some reason and one day I find a bunch of yarn I can't remember anymore what I intended to do with it.  Confused Crazy I feel absolutely dumb then!

That is a shame! You know you said you like the amigurumi, me too, I love them. But I had a similar problem to your octopus with an attempt at a lamb I way doing for my daughter.I knitted all the pieces nicely and then when I was supposed to put it all together I couldn't get the instructions right and I ended up improvising and felt so frustrated.  I finished it, but it is more or less.... I was checking the octopus and I have a pattern for a very similar one in a book. It is lovely! I'll find it here and then I'll show you.

I wish I could knit -I can only do the most basic stitch !
