King Willem-Alexander is simply called Alex, Easter is celebrated in the Italian country house of Princess Beatrix and Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien dance at home. Countess Eloise gives a unique glimpse into the life of the royal family on her social media accounts.
And apparently we want to see that too: several posts by the eldest daughter of Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien have gone viral in recent weeks and since last week the countess has been followed by more than 200,000 people.
That glimpse into the life of the royal family is special, says Royal House expert Rick Evers. "When it comes to their private lives, the Royal Family has always said, this far and no further. Eloise's Instagram is seen as a first step towards a more personal approach within the Royal Family."
In this clip on TikTok, which was later removed, Eloise can be seen dancing with her father Constantijn and mother Laurentien. When asked 'who made you famous?' she points to her parents with a smile:

The rule is that attention for the family must be limited. You notice this in interviews, for example, says Evers. "Conversations with the king and queen are quite relaxed. I can ask anything about their work, but when it comes to private matters, a way out is being sought."
Royal House reporter Kysia Hekster recognizes this. "We only hear about the private life of the royal family on the terms of the king himself. If asked about it and he does not feel like it, he will let you know."
Eloise, now jokingly referred to as Countess Fluencer, has more than 200,000 followers on Instagram and nearly half a million likes on TikTok. She shares videos and photos of herself and participates in the popular trends on social media. She also shares images of her family and anecdotes about her family in interviews. "You can hear the royal family thinking: what are we supposed to do with this?", Says Evers.
That is the question, says Hekster. Because the royal family can also benefit from this. "You can also reason the other way around: visibility is important for the monarchy. Eloise shares very innocent facts, they are not family secrets. That is also unlikely, because the brothers have very close contact."
According to Evers, the 'look behind the scenes' of the royal family is good. "I think it is good to show that there is a personal side. On the one hand, to maintain the fairytale, but also to remain approachable."
In an interview with influencer Robbert Rodenburg for his YouTube series Open Map, Eloise talked about Easter, which the royal family celebrates in Italy. "Then the 'Easter Bunny' went to hide eggs and we had to watch a movie in the turret. But in that turret there was just a window and we saw the parents hide eggs":

Because of Eloise's accounts, social media will also be considered within the royal family, says Evers. All members of the royal family have protected accounts, which may become public in the future. "Heirs to the throne previously contributed to a book that appeared around their 18th birthday. This gave you more information about their background. That book may be out of date, so it could just become an Instagram account."
A public Instagram account for Princess Amalia would be good for the support for the monarchy in the Netherlands, the royalty expert thinks. "You want to know more about the future queen. Hopefully that will not become a good account, because it has to be according to the RVD guidelines. You want an account like that of Eloise."
Eloise gave her first interview ever on the Jeugdjournaal:
A majority of Dutch people understand and support that the king is keeping his daughters out of publicity, according to the annual royal family survey of the NOS. Yet it seems that the Netherlands is curious, says Hekster. In May, Eloise had only 6,000 followers, now 200,000. "Of course she looks for publicity herself, but there are also many people who want to know everything about the private affairs of the royal family. They now get a little insight through Eloise."
Evers also thinks that Eloise's popularity has to do with curiosity. "She is just one click away from the Royal House. One influencer excels in humor, the other in creativity or beauty, in the case of Eloise it is really above all because she is the niece of the king."A difference with the three daughters of Willem-Alexander is that Eloise is not a member of the Royal House. As a result, she does not fall under ministerial responsibility and the Government Information Service does not act officially for Eloise. Yet she is fifth in line for succession to the throne.
