Agreed, Fairy. Plus teens are so sensitive about everything. My 14 year old is 5'8" (173cm), and pretty big and strong. Everyone thinks she's 18 or 20! 

No publication should comment on the way a teenager looks, particularly when that teenager is famous through no doing of her or his own.

There are teenagers who try to be famous or who are performers. I rather like the way Billie Eyelish has taken her body out of view with baggy clothes.

When I read the article in the DM I felt so sorry for the poor girl. Media needs to stop commenting on people’s bodies unless the person in question is ok with it (like a certain celebrity talking about a new diet or whatever).

How do they come up with this?

Brutally bullied   Wonder, who his source was on this topic.... or if he was perhaps confusing it with another item (the stalker or such). As far as I have heard Amalia is doing well on school and in her social circles.

I think Daily mail and those magazines that writes "we are so outraged" stories about the CARAS story are just as bad,  they post lots of phtoso of her and they legitimize that it is OK to comment on a young girls body like that. It would have been better that noone wrote anything about the Caras story at all IMO.

I think she looks very much like her father's side of the family. But Maxima has a very round face too. In any case, as the mother of a child with an eating disorder, I say she looks exactly as she should at this moment in her life. To give you an analogy...my most wonderful first labrador puppy came home with us at 8 weeks. Some days after that she was tall but not long. Some days she was long and not tall. She then had a dicey 10 days where she grew the end of her nose like Jimmy Durante or Rudolf the red nose reindeer. She turned out to be a beauty  with gorgeous hair, as will the three princesses.  I am quite sure that at the very least these  girls will grow up to look like themselves and no one else:-) which is how it should be. And they will all be lovely no matter how they turn out to physically look, because beauty and kindness and honor  comes from the heart.

I personally thought that the average for women was already in the 1.70 meter area, but apparently it is just below it.

Personally I haven't heard many jokes. The one we, in our family, got the most was about how many kicks (in the butt) we got to become this tall. More shared humor about wearing high water trousers, doorposts in old houses (which are too low); tall people who manage to get themselves, including driving in small cars etc.

One of my nephews had a significant growth spurt. He is now approaching, or is maybe already 1.90 meters. But he is very slim at that, that has yet to be completed. Just looking like a spaghetti string. His mother had great difficulty finding suitable trousers for him.

Later on I also received remarks a la: "nice long legs!" and "nice length!". Also because I still wear heels.

We tend to reserve the weather up there-jokes for ppl who are 2 metres plus (6 ft 10 and up).

1.67 is an average, and especially under 25s are on average well over 1.70.

Mr P is 6 ft 1. He's considered short-ish.

I met Wax once and compared to the ppl we Dutch would call big boned, he's almost svelte. Yup. There are Dutch that look like total Neanderthals, except for the brow.

I find the Dutch people very attractive for the most part. But you have a much better perspective than I do since I’ve only been there a few times. So if Neanderthals walk amongst you, they probably do here as well.

I agree that the family is pretty big boned (maybe not Alexia, but we’ll see). IMO they are an attractive family.

I'll wait another 3-4 years on a verdict  - I have been very slim my entire life, but about the only time I really wasn't was at Amalia's age, those pesky hormones...things might change - or might not and as long as she is healthy and kind and has a good self-esteem and confidence, what else should we want?

Maybe I should have qualified my statement about big bones. I really meant that some people have larger frames than others, and I do believe that’s true. I also think that the larger frames can carry an extra 5-10 pounds and not show it as easily as someone with a small frame. Weight ranges were often based on the size of your frame along with height and sex, but I’m sure that all went the way of the dinosaur with the advent of BMI.

And yes it sucks to have your weight fluctuate because of hormones or medication or age. I have finally (I hope) stabilized my weight but it took forever.

In any event, I think Max and her daughters have large frames and they all look to be at healthy weights. They are growing up to be lovely girls.

The only observation I would make is that the very wide tan-coloured belt seems to have hitched the blue dress up in front and drawn much of the fabric together there, giving an effect not as graceful as it might have been.

It's a very pretty dress, I'm noticing the pin-tucking and open-work on bodice, and is it lace on sleeves?

I personally understand the structure item, but I would also use it slightly differently. I know people who are not (too) heavey, but have a wide pelvis for example, which makes them look bigger / heavier.

During my studies I underwent a number of weight determination methods (we were our own test subject). Not only weight and BMI, but also items such as fat percentage etc. From the underwater measurement it followed that my fat percentage was relatively on the high side, but that I also had a relatively high bone density. With regard to the latter, I sometimes jokingly remarked that I indeed have heavy bones
