Partnerships can bring about groundbreaking change for maternal health. Today, Her Majesty the Queen received the CEO of the Gates Foundation, Mark Suzman, for a meeting about the Foundation's work in maternal and infant health.
Gates Foundation, together with the Danish government, is supporting “The 10 Million Safer Births Initiative”, which is based on a concrete and ambitious goal of giving 10 million women access to safer births by the end of 2030 across sub-Saharan Africa. The Queen is the protector of the initiative for a three-year period.
The initiative is based on a vision that great results can be achieved when governments, foundations, civil society and international partners join forces.
The Foreign Ministry's Director for Development Policy, Elsebeth Søndergaard Krone, Gates Foundations Director for European Office, Anja Langenbucher, Deputy Director for Family Planning, Maternal, Newborn, Child Nutrition and Health and Primary Health Care, Dr. Sanjana Bhardwaj, as well as Danish representative, Morten Nyegaard, also attended the meeting, which took place in Frederik VIII's Palace on Amalienborg.
