Yes! It's a giant bow brooch/stomacher from the 1880s, usually set with a sapphire. But Max has once before worn it with the large Dutch citrine instead, and it looks like she's repeating that. http://www.thecourtjewell...dutch-citrine-brooch.html

Gee, I scrolled down rather quickly and then abruptly stopped: had I just seen a Christmas tree next to the throne? Nope, but it sure looked like that… The darker yellow is a lot better for Maxima, it suits her own Colour much better. But the ruffles still make it seem like a giant lampshade...

If it’s more a true yellow than mustard, that would be ok. Not many people can wear either. It sure wouldn’t be my first choice. Kind of a cute dress but the ruffles are a bit too young on her. Overall, she could have done better.

Laurentien is keeping Hardy's in business singel handedly - she never fails to pick the couch cover design du jour for Prinsjesdag.
Max-watchers would refer to this dress as the daffodil - prior to the dye job. She wouldn't dream of killing the American Big Bird for a dress - she did our own Pino in for the Taminiau dress for the Lux wedding's party night (it was covered in blood, mind you).

And then there's this precious tidbit in RD's history: Ask and you shall receive! Aaaahhhh the "I killed Bigbird and used him for my outfit" - outfit of Máxima.[/
psssst Princi! Shouldn't we explain that we have screwed over Big Bird in The Netherlands too and painted him BLUE? http://sesamstraatblog.fi...ress.com/2012/10/pino.jpgOh, and thanks whomever (i'll check!) it was that posted the pic. It's been a looong time since my reaction to a royal outfit was: "Hooly crap and f**k me sideways" And in the Netherlands we also gave big bird a new name: Pino In the meantime I was so used to that sweet blue bird, I was surprised the original is yellow BTW all over the globe Sesame street has his own special charachters per country/region. For example in Germany the have a sort of big bear, and the Netherlands has since a few years Purk (a baby pork). Awww I just did a search and Pino and Purk are adorable. Unlike Max's outfit. Although I do like that when Max messes up she does it in full disastrous drag queen style. I've always wonders what Wax and Bea thought when they first saw Max in that outfit. "So it WAS you. You Beeotch." Pomme many for you!!

Don't forget....she has a real pino blue fluffy coat. So besides the blood smeared one....
