Of course one's options for entertainment or mental stimulation were very limited in those days. I am sure they would have enjoyed cable tv just as much as sermons, if not more!

On February 24, 1566 the marriage of James Hepburn, Earl of Bothwell and Lady Jean Gordon was celebrated. Mary, Queen of Scots supplied the eleven ells of cloth of silver for Lady Jean's wedding.

The Earl of Morton, head of the Douglas clan, supported Mary, Queen of Scots, because Henry Lennox, Earl of Lennox's wife Margaret had been a Douglas, and Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley was thus mother's kin to the Douglases.
