November 28Daisy celebrates Advent 1stThe first Sunday of Advent is a church feast day, where the new church year is welcomed, and in Roskilde Cathedral Her Majesty the Queen participated in the morning in the congregation's advent mass. The Council of Councils in Roskilde Domsogn has chosen to set up the "Annexependium of the Queens" in the Cathedral from today and until the 31st. January 2022. An antependium is a cloth that defecates the front of the altar table in a church. In 1975, Her Majesty the Queen initiated an artistic collaboration with her mother, Queen Ingrid, about the creation of a new antependium for Roskilde Cathedral, which was completed in 1990. The Queen's Antipendium was first set up in connection with Queen Ingrid's funeral in 2000 and has since been set up during Emperor Dagmar's re-burial in 2006. Now for the third time, the antipendent will decorate the altar table in Roskilde Cathedral. The queen's antependium is an altar veil that shows 20 different biblical motifs, including "Mountain sermon" and "The Last Communion", performed by Her Majesty with embroidered "petit point" in the hearing thread. In the middle of the antipendent, there is a mandorla figure, which illustrates the trinity God, Son, and Holy Spirit, surrounded by Queen Ingrid's gold-embroidered ray wreath. The majority of the biblical motifs are sewn into four blue ribbons, which fly with the decoration of the altar board, and the gold embroidery here is also done by Queen Ingrid. The antependium is sewn from a piece of handwoven fabric, made by the weaver John Becker, who for many years was designed for Georg Jensen Damask, where John Becker published more than 35 different designs. The gold embroidery is drawn by Edith Hansen and the installation has taken place at the Society for Church Art.

Wow, what a piece of needlework. I know that in the past, many queens and princesses were gifted with needle and thread and this piece is right up there. I recall that Mary Queen of Scots did some marvelous embroidery as well, but I can't think of anyone in the present era other than Daisy who has made anything quite so marvelous.

Wow, this is a truly amazingly beautiful piece of work! I‘ve known that Queen Margarete is a gifted artist and designer, but I did not know that Queen Ingrid was such a master embroiderer.

I believe the writer meant decorates. 😄 Hand embroidery is becoming rarer than ever - it is admirable that the Queen is doing it. And hopefully encouraging others to take it up ... The altar cloth really is a work of art.

Margrethe is very talented when it comes to embroidery among other things. She puts a lot of thought into her work. Some of her worst critics among journalists don't seem to realize that, which is a great shame. They seem to only want to hear their own voice putting her down.

December 1Daisy gathered the family at a gourmet restaurant after a festive evening in TivoliIt was in every way a festive evening when Queen Margrethe invited her immediate family to the premiere of the Christmas ballet "The Snow Queen" in Tivoli's Concert Hall on Wednesday night. During the break during the performance, Queen Margrethe took the whole family - Crown Princess Mary, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent, Princess Josephine, and Prince Felix to the gourmet vegetarian restaurant Gemyse in the middle of the Christmas-decorated Tivoli. The Christmas ballet plays throughout December and the Queen has made drawings for both costumes and scenography for the performance.

Daisys round events have been plagued by many things the last ten years, volcanos, covid etc. I wonder of her golden jubilee that is supposed to be celebrated from january 10th can go ahead as planned when Mette Fredriksen has just closed the schools from december 15th to january 5th? Balconny service and carriage ride with people lining the street, church service, gala dinner with foreign royal guests and show at the royal theatre, seems difficult IMO.

The New Year events are already cancelled ( I've just updated the DRF calendar thread)
Other events might have the same fate like Daisy's Golden jubilee and Mary's 50th birthday in February depending on the situation.

A blog with beautiful photos of Daisys jewels from the exhibition.., seems almost all her major jewels are there. https://royalwatcherblog....9/a-queens-jewellery-box/Will be interesting to see what happens with her large private collection when she dies, some of her pieces are quite, well, special and need a larger than life personality to pull of which her DILs is not presisly
