I saw a video on one of the Danish newspaper websites and it sounded like the crowd - or parts of it  at least - were booing the RF when they arrived at the Opening of Parliament.

I think there was a demonstration by a group called Men in Black. It could have been them.

Marie looks stunning!!!    It's not a style I normally like, but I like how she's styled it.  Mary looks washed out...these dull pastels do nothing for her and, when coupled with the mother-of-the-bride hair, make her fade into the background.

I don’t like Mary’s britches. The crotch is mid thigh and the super wide legs. Ugh.  Dead

It's official! The Schack's have no court anymore, hence I don't believe they will return to DK in the same capacity they had before - if ever. That's why Marie was given her new position at the Danish Embassy in Paris, etc.

That's so sad  Sad Crap Once Fred ascends to the throne it'll be over for them. No Bene equivalent. That's why Marie was so pissed in her interview, because it was decided for them.

I’d feel sad for them if they don’t have a Court of their own but doesn’t that mean they are pocketing most of the allowance they get then?

Only Joachim got an allowance. Marie never did.

Yrma and Fred have their separate own allowances.

What does this mean exactly?  Shocked  Did they lose their titles, or was an announcement made that there is no role for them any more going forward?

I thought Mary was allocated 10% of Fred's by law rather than a truly separate allowance.

I will say that if their household has been dissolved and they're planning to stay in France then their allowance should end.  I assume both their positions at the embassy come with a salary.  Or at least should because they should be being paid for what they're doing and that's embassy work not royal duties.  If that makes sense.

They seem to be enjoying France so more power to them.

What does this mean exactly?  Shocked  Did they lose their titles, or was an announcement made that there is no role for them any more going forward?

My guess is that the Paris move is now a permanent thing.  I was originally just for a year while Joachim attended the École Militaire.  Then it was extended when he was appointed the military attaché at the Danish Embassy in Paris.  His attaché position was expected to be for three years beginning in fall 2020.  Earlier this month Marie was appointed as a Special Culture Representative in the Culture Department of the Danish Embassy in Paris.

At the moment, they are still members of the Royal House (= representative of the queen, with patronages, etc.) and will always belong to the Royal Family (Royal House + other family members). Neither Joachim nor Marie have a private secretary anymore. There is no Chamberlain for Joachim, and Marie lost her LiW a while ago.

Royal House currently is:
- Daisy
- Fred/Yrma
- Joachim/Marie
- Benedikte

Xtian's wife will be still HRH, maybe the other 3 kids' spouses as well. The Schack children will always be HH, but their spouses will be Mr./Ms. no more title for them. And they of course keep Count/Countess of Monpezat.

> Joachim Holger Waldemar Christian, Prince of Denmark, Count of Monpezat
> Marie Agathe Odile, Her Royal Highness Princess of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat
> Nikolai William Alexander Frederik, His Highness Prince of Denmark, Count of Monpezat
> Felix Henrik Valdemar Christian, His Highness Prince of Denmark, Count of Monpezat
> Henrik Carl Joachim Alain, His Highness Prince of Denmark, Count of Monpezat
> Athena Marguerite Françoise Marie, Her Highness Princess of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat

They never lose their title, but once Fred ascends to the throne with Yrma in tow, and their kids grow up, Joachim and Marie will have fewer patronages, if any, and won't represent the King (Fred). I believe that it's up to Fred as King to decide over Joachim's allowance. Daisy gave Bene one, still does, but if Yrma has a go at Fred, that might be over for the Schack's then.

Fred/Mary will always, keep their patronages, and when Xtian comes up in ages he will have to take some over either from Fred, Bene, or Joachim. It's what the Swedes have, and the Dutch and the Brits will do as well.

The royal throne sequence officially is:

 1) HM The Queen
 2) HRH The Crown Prince
 3) HRH Prince Christian
 4) HRH Princess Isabella
 5) HRH Prince Vincent
 6) HRH Princess Josephine
 7) HRH Prince Joachim
 Cool HH Prince Nikolai
 9) HH Prince Felix
10) HH Prince Henrik
11) HH Princess Athena
12) HRH Princess Benedikte

You are right OC, Mary get's officially and contractually allocated 10% of Fred's allowance. What I meant by separate is that she has her own separate income that is taken out of Fred's budget. Marie never had that.

If they no longer have the staff they did and are living in France permanently their allowance simply has to change. Are they not being paid for their Embassy roles? They can’t have the same for living in Denmark and doing regular representative duties with a staff as they are for living privately in France with no staff. Of they are (which it seems they are) then they either weren’t getting enough in Denmark and Daisy was chipping in for the staff (but the official audited annual reports show otherwise) or they are now able to take more as personal allowance than they got for being official working royals.

The difference between them and Bene was that she never had her own allowance just a small percentage of Daisy’s which never seemed all that much so likely covered most of her expenses and travelling back and forth to and from Denmark and Germany. Joachim has his own allowance from the state. Better IMO they move to the same system as Daisy or she just pays their official expenses out of her allowance and they ditch his completely. At the very least they should cut his by the staff salaries and office running costs no longer being paid.

I find it interesting that with every other RF there are complaints about the "spare" and how they should be stripped of titles and get a real job........

Like them or not, F&M are the CP couple, with four children to follow, and Christian is almost an adult. Marge still has plenty of time left in her. Bene having a role is a carry over from the old days, rather like the Kents and Gloucesters in the UK. Every RF is "slimming down" and the DRF is no exception.
