Marie and Joachim launched the Christmas market at the Church of Denmark in Paris
In the heart of France's capital Paris, Marie was able to open the annual Christmas bazaar in Frederikskirken - the Danish Church in Paris today. The Christmas Bazaar is the biggest event of the year in Frederikskirken, where the church is transformed into one large Christmas market over three days, and Joachim tagged along.

They were received by Frederikskirken's pastor Malene Bendtsen, after which Marie visited the Christmas bazaar's many stalls, which offer sales of, among other things, Danish Christmas food, calendar candles, and elves. Frederikskirken is named after Frederik IX, who consecrated the church in 1955 together with Queen Ingrid. Frederikskirken is a gathering place for Danes in Paris and the surrounding area, and the church also functions as a meeting house, music house, culture house, youth house, and children's care facility.

Very special occasion: Marie and Joachim commemorate Prince Henrik
In the new TV documentary "Princess Marie's fight against food waste", Marie remembers her father-in-law, Prince Henrik, in a very special way.

For Joachim and Marie, it was clear that Prince Henrik, who passed away in February 2018, had an approach to food and food that is very modern. For Prince Henrik, food waste was not in order, and both Joachim and Marie have experienced it.

- "I was brought up to eat food, but also that the food that was made and was not served or was leftover must not be thrown out. It was simply one of my father-in-law's basic principles. It was inevitable", says Joachim in the documentary, and he continued.

- "My father was a child of war, and they have known of scarcity, and therefore it is natural that everything must be eaten', says Prince Joachim, and Princess Marie adds in the very touching clip from the TV documentary.

- "My father-in-law Prince Henrik and I had the same approach to food and respect for food and food. My parents were like that too. So maybe it's a matter of generation, it comes from Princess Marie, who emphasizes that our generation has a great responsibility when it comes to getting all food utilized 100%."

....and their body language shows...they are/were in-step. I think Marie misses Henrik Sr. a lot.

I support the cause completely. I was brought up the same way. My grandmother was young during the first world war, my mother during WWll. Use everything if possible!

And what a lovely picture of Marie and Henrik! Marie strikes me as very empathetic.

I'd love to have that doggie   We've lost our dear lovely Sissi last year (natural causes)  Sad She was of the same breed...

Lots of light in this Danish royal family, thanks for sharing!  Star

Cute kids. Is this in their French house? It looks different from the food waste video. They are a tight unit it seems. Good for them.

Good question. What in the world is that? It doesn’t connect to anything and the dog isn’t wearing anything in the other pics.  Thinking
