Those pictures make me a little sad for Marie. I think she really loves Denmark and has worked very hard to integrate herself in the language and culture. I genuinely think she would prefer to live there but she is part of a couple and will go where she and her husband need to be. I hope they had a nice Christmas with the queen. Their fate is very weird and seems like you don't know if they will be in permanent exile or just for a few years.

I get the impression that Mosh and the DRF grey men would dance a jig if the Schacks would pull a Megxit so as to clear the decks for the Derfs.

The Shacks sold off the old property but with some rights to holiday there ... took the money and spent it elsewhere. Apparently in a Copenhagen neighborhood.  And probably had some money in reserve ..... This is not the Middle Ages where the possible challenger is exiled and his family put in a tower  . . . She can hardly feel a "stranger in a strange land" as she is French .... guess they could go back to Denmark any time they want to .. or is this being spun as another younger son and wife .....

The second photo with the dog is absolutely breathtaking. What a beautiful country Denmark must be!

I am not sure either Alexandra or Marie were that content living at Shackenborg. I also think it was (ended up being certainly) a bit of a depressing place for Joachim. He gave the fate his parents chose for him a good try but I don’t think it worked well for him. He should have been free to choose what his future was.

I think they’re happy to be in France tbh. There seems to be no problems with Marge but Fred & Co.. yeah..

Nice photos - beautiful place but hope they are happy in France.  Not easy being the spare!  Seems to be a theme in many royal houses - Joachim, Harry, Alexia in the Netherlands, Sofia in Spain.  At least right now, seems like Sofia is at least given the chance to be involved with a supporting role.

Apologies, but I have missed a lot re. Jocke and Marie's departure from Denmark.
I thought that Jocke went to France for training in the military and then work as such, right?
First of all, what I don't get is why a Prince should go in another country for further training and work in the military. It seems extremely odd to me. Where his payments come from? The French state or are we talking about private army jobs?
Second, I always had the impression that he chose to live in France, he wanted to live his life outside Denmark. Both Jocke and Marie seemed to have extensively supporting roles as royals in Denmark, they were not hidden, they had many projects etc. I really can't believe that Fred and Mary didn't want them there, different people, different roles, different projects. And considering what I've read here about the press in Denmark and how little judges the royals, I cannot think that F&M were afraid of the comparisson, since there's no comparisson - in public - and the press supports them as the heir couple.

Nice to see some pics of them.  Henrik is getting so tall, both kids are!  He’ll soon be taller than Marie.  Not a surprise with Joachim’s height.  Nikolai and Felix are both tall and slender.  Wonder how tall Athena will be?

I always love news and pictures of Marie and her family!  So sweet to see Athena's arm looped with Marie's in the second picture, and what a lovely and interesting collar? ruff? the priest is wearing.
