August 15Schacks with Daisy @ CayxThe Queen has been on her annual summer stay in southern France this week, and the weekend is spending Majesty with her youngest son and two of her grandchildren before the Queen returns home to Denmark tomorrow. In the summer of 1974, the Queen and Prince Henrik bought the Château de Cayx, located near the town of Cahors. The historic wine castle has now for 47 years been the royal family's base on Prince Henrik's birthplace. During Prince Henry's lifetime, the Queen and Prince spent several weeks at the French wine castle each summer, and this tradition of the Queen has continued since Prince Henry's death.

It's especially poignant when you think of the massive health scare Jokke had earlier this year. More than a scare, really...massive health emergency.

She looks beautiful. I’m jealous that she can pull off that pale pink colour, whenever I try it washes me out completely.
It’s so nice to see her and Joachim so much lately. I’ve really missed them doing royal stuff.

Both children are dressed terribly. Jeans for Athena? Henrik’s shirt untucked?
Funny how these things are ignored when it’s Saint Marie’s children.
I guess the difference is in the eyes of the beholder I don’t like the clothes the children are wearing but it looks like they dressed themselves just like most children do in Denmark and I like that. Other royal children, in Denmark at least, often look so coordinated when they go out and it feels off to me somehow, at least for those who won’t have much of a public life. It’s one thing to pick outfits for photos, it’s another to make everything matchy-matchy. It quickly becomes too much IMO and quite a few royal families do it too

Marie looks absolutely smashing in that suit! It’s funny because she and Joachim end up looking a little matchy-matchy in their velvet. Fantastic hairstyle on her as well.

Agree! I don't normally like the tuxedo on a woman, but she looks better than anyone I've seen in it. Would love to know more about that brooch too!

This is only a normal suit and for me it is too casual for the event, the top also - even if this is not a 'formal' event - and the shoes are not good. I hope she will start to do something with her hair also. I saw a pic lately when it was shorter and it suits her long face so much.

Oh, I do agree with you guys, Cordelia Fitzgerald, and thecrownjewelthief - Marie looks just stunning. She always looks very feminine and her long hair gives her this softness and frames her face nicely. It makes her look rather younger than older.
In contrast, others need a good haircut because their long hair makes them look like a screeching banshee. Thankfully, with Marie we don't have to worry about that, she is as good as it gets.

Thanks for the jewel info, Peeds! I couldn't agree more with the bolded section. She's the gold standard for non-crown princesses.

Well we would have to rank her ahead of Sofia in Sweden and Märtha in Norway and Cristina in Spain ..... I don’t think there is a big group otherwise to challenge that .... other than the one now in the US and a lot of girls too young to be compared
