AOC has given an Instagram live about her experience during the Capitol siege. Katie Porter has also talked about what happened including the moment when AOC came to hide in her office and her sincere worry that she might not survive the attack.
https://www.independent.c...apitol-riot-b1796526.htmlI can't imagine what it was like for them. I was terrified just watching from home of what might happen if they found any members of Congress, but especially someone like her or Speaker Pelosi who the right has been attacking relentlessly now.
A quick story - I actually met her a few years ago at a restaurant near Capitol Hill - super casual place, she seemed to be having dinner with staff before heading back to her district for the weekend. My sister teaches English language learners and the congresswoman has talked a good bit about her experience growing up in a home where English was not the first language and how her mom worked so hard for their family. My sister flagged her down just to pass along what an inspiration AOC is to her students. Stopped to listen and thanked my sister for her work as a teacher - she was so genuine and sweet.
