She looks good on her own. In this outfit she would not really stand out among Dutch young people. Personally, I really don't understand the ripped jeans / jeans with holes at the knees for a very long time. Why spend (so much) money on ripped jeans, when you might as well use really worn jeans

Is that a guitar case she is carrying? I think Maxima is musical so wouldn't be surprised if so.

Is English the lingua franca among the Royal families in Europe? I know at this school they'll presumably teach in English, being in Wales and all, but when Alexia interacts with the other young royals, does anyone know if it's English or French or what?
English, if there isn't a language that is closer to both. So I assume that eg. Alexia speaks spanish due to her mother being argentine, so she could speak spanish with Leonor, when they meet in the corridors. The scandis can understand eachother speaking their own languages respectively, Dutch and Flemish is almost the same, so I presume, that at a meeting between NL and BRF, they might speak Dutch/flemish. French as a lingua du Court isn't used any more. I think the days where the DRF, NRF and SRF can just speak their own language are running out. At least for the Danes. It’s not my impression that F&M are cultivating a family that speaks other languages than Danish and English and my guess is J&M are just about mainly speaking French by now, with the added English as Alex’s native language. It’s sad but they don’t stand out in Denmark except for the French speaking.

I think so, but it’s hard to tell. I really hope she has a wonderful experience.

She looks wonderful! I always wanted to go to boarding school when I was a teenager. I hope she has an amazing experience!
And I hope she does become good friends with Leonor. So few royals are close friends that it would be nice to see the next generation become close.

Personally, I really don't understand the ripped jeans / jeans with holes at the knees for a very long time. Why spend (so much) money on ripped jeans, when you might as well use really worn jeans In my younger days ~ (when knighthood was in flower, probably 1979) ~ I was once terribly mocked by another girl at my school for having the audacity of wearing a pair of jeans to school, that had an inch-long rip at the knee. "You know those jeans have a hole in them, don't you?", asked in front of all my classmates. And the whispering that went on afterward. It was like having leprosy or something. How times do change!

It's a funny story now, but I'm sure at the time it was incredibly hurtful. I know what she's wearing is the fashion for teenagers (I teach high school) but when I saw this picture, my first thought was of the topic "Does Royalty dress like Royalty!" To my old-fashioned mind, a flannel shirt and ripped jeans are NOT royalty! Good thing I'm just a Disher so my curmudgeonly opinion doesn't matter

I remember back when high waisted wide legged jeans were in fashion. I wore a pair to help fix a fence and a bee flew up one of the legs and stung me. Fashion just leads to pain.

Why spend (so much) money on ripped jeans, when you might as well use really worn jeans It's interesting how teens can dress in Europe in a similar way and yet there are obvious differences in countries. Ripped jeans were never really a hit in Spain and they've been very much out of fashion in the last couple of years. If you look at what Alexia and Leonor are wearing you can see differences in teenage culture dressing - in Spain slim fit or skinny jeans with normal size t-shirts and jackets together with flat shoes or sandals are standard clothing for teens. I know there is a huge difference between how Spanish teens dress compared to British ones, but I was a bit surprised seeing Alexia with ripped jeans (nothing against them, just so out of fashion from my end)
