So very young, what a horrible loss for her family and friends.

Shocking loss.  Hopefully her family has a strong support network around her children to help them through this.  I really know her more from being a fan of her husband; I'm going to look for some of her movies this weekend.

She had an impressive body of work:

I loved her as Aunt Pol in Peaky Blinders.

Thanks for the link!  In looking over it, I've seen her in a few things and always enjoyed her roles.  What a marvelous actress, to be so fully absorbed into the roles you play that they really are about the character and not the actress.  Side note...I've always wanted to watch Peaky Blinders but I'm afraid I'm too squeamish for it!

I was so sad to wake up to this news this morning. Many, MANY years ago I was on Yahoo message boards (remember those?) for Band of Brothers and Damien Lewis, and I remember when they met during Five Gold Rings at the Almeida Theatre. Many lucky members met them both after the show (apparently its a small theatre, and the cast would come out to the bar after the show and drink with the patrons). Helen was a beautiful person, and an amazing actress, both on stage and film, who was awarded and OBE for her work. Sadly taken far too soon. I feel very sad for Damien and their two children, who are still so very young to have lost their mum.

This is so shocking, she was still young.

She was my Anna Karenina and I loved her short but memorable scenes in Skyfall.

My condolences to her family.

So tragic! What an amazing woman! R.I.P Helen McCrory. Condolences to all those who loved her. She was so courageous in her last interview.

Great story, emtishell. I’m not surprised to read that about her - she seemed pretty down to earth.
