Unfortunately, because of the Corona, for the 2nd year in a row a lot was canceled / much was not possible in terms of King's Night and King's Day. Given the nice weather, many people were outside and in some places even the police were discussed. A.o. closing and evacuating places that are too busy.

Where Willem-Alexander and his family stayed at home in 2020 and celebrated King's Day from there, they were at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven this year on April 27.

On King's Day, King Willem-Alexander and his family also attended the Streamers rehearsals in The Hague. The Streamers is an artist collective that would perform on King's Day and could be streamed for all Dutch people in particular. I missed it because of all kinds of other activities on King's Day, but it seems to have been really good.

https://www.podiuminfo.nl...af-bij-Paleis-Noordeinde/

"...The Streamers consist of Guus Meeuwis, Rolf Sanchez, Kraantje Pappie, Suzan & Freek, VanVelzen, Davina Michelle, Paul de Munnik, Typhoon, Thomas Acda, Diggy Dex, Nick & Simon, Maan and Paul de Leeuw. Last Monday it was announced that Danny Vera will also remain with the band and Miss Montreal has been added as a new band member. A few more guests will be added next week.

Guus Meeuwis, together with Kraantje Pappie bandleader of The Streamers: “We can hardly believe that we have been invited by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima to perform on King's Day. Of course we are very honored that our adventure continues in this way. The goal remains unchanged; we want to make people happy. This time we will of course do that with an orange touch ”....."

Apparently the car that WA and Amalia drove was a kind of old acquaintance for WA

https://blauwbloed.eo.nl/...e-in-voor-hem-bekende-daf

On King's Day, the King takes a ride in DAF, which is well-known for him

King Willem-Alexander and his family will kick off King's Day in Eindhoven with a caravan of old and new cars. The birthday boy, who turns 54 on Tuesday, drives an old DAF together with his eldest daughter Amalia. To be able to drive the car, the king only needs a brief explanation, says chairman Geert Vermeer of the DAF Museum to Omroep Brabant.

The blue DAF Kini is no stranger to Willem-Alexander. "This car was given to the royal family by DAF at the birth of the king in 1967. It is also called Willem-Alexander. It is a royal vehicle with the registration number AA98 and it is the only example there is", says Vermeer. .

The Oranges used the open-top car for years in their country retreat in Italy. "It is a reunion for him, because he was in this as a little boy with his parents. I think he really enjoys getting to know this again."

Showpiece
The car has been in the museum for years and has not been used for a long time. Still, it drives fine. "It was not too bad for us. A new battery in it and it ran. It is actually still new, although it is almost sixty years old", says Vermeer.

The king will receive a short explanation on Tuesday about how to drive it, but according to the museum chairman, that is not difficult. "It's an automatic with the 'clever stick'. Forward is forward and backward is reverse. That was unique in the 1950s and 1960s. There were hardly any small automatic passenger cars."

After the caravan, the DAF will return to the museum on Tuesday. "Then he will be here as a showpiece with hopefully some new photos. We are proud that this DAF is allowed to drive again."

I find it rather cute how the girls abuse their mom as a coat rack.. or rather purse rack...  Angel It is such a mom thing, I also usually end up carrying everybodys stuff, even though I always beg them to really consider only taking what is absolutely needed...

Well, what is absolutely needed is a thing of interpretation.

That's so cute!  Good eye, Fairy!  It reminds me of those pages in celebrity magazines..."Celebrities! They're just like us!"

Was Willem a later-in-life baby for Beatrix, or is it just the lighting in that picture that makes her look a little older?  No worries; I know what normal aging looks like so I'm not asking this because she's not botoxed and fillered and nipped and tucked into oblivion!

She was 29 when WA was born...... I think it is just what normal women looked like in those days! Although I do think, on the whole, women look younger these days than back then. I was looking through my mum's wedding photos from her first marriage (not my father), and saw the pics of my grandmother, and was shocked when I came to the realisation that she was about 38 in the photos! She looked to be in her 50s, at least! Very matronly, with grey at her temples. She looks older than I am now, having just turned 50.

I know that Kate (and to a lesser extent, Leti) have copped some flack over their "theme" dressing, but I do like a coordinated approach to family dressing, especially for something like this. All the colours here are a bit much for my organised eye!!

And at the photo she was heavily pregnant with her second child. And the 60s are not famous for maternity dressing, so I geuss it has some influence of this pic.

Perhaps history will bear out that the choice of my partner was my best decision.

The three As have blossomed into beautiful young women. It’s shocking to see how much Ariane has grown! Last year she was a girl in braces and now she has turned into a confident young lady! I love her beautiful smile, she and Amalia are the spitting image of their dad. I have never been a fan of their Nathan outfits when they were little and I remain skeptical now that they dress like women. I am not sure that their sartorial choices are flattering enough, but they all look happy and a close-knit family unit, and this is what matters.

I'm just a bit  Yikes at the different style dressing from the family - Willem, Alexia and Ariane completely casual and Maxima and Amalia are dressed in eveningwear.  It looks weird.

Remember how the three As were always dressed identical? That was ridiculous. But some style consent now would not go astray.

this also left me a bit puzzled.... 2 different styles for the same family at the same event....  would have understood if WAX and Max would go "formal" both for the role and maybe protocol but the girls at a concert.... Alexia and Ariane are casual while Amalia is dressed like an adult but she is just 17 ..... would have left high heels, coat and trousers in the wardorbe in favour of trainers and casual attire for that event...
I also was not a fan of the same look for the triple A's even when they were children, not a fan even for twins,  as at a certain age it was not appropriate anymore due to age, especially when Amalia was growing and she was still dressed like her sister 4 years younger
so this can be a result of the "now you can dress like you like...." and it happens they like it that way

Well, she was around 30 at his birth. But it's true that people than looked somehow older than they do now (not all of course).

Back then they worked more and harder. It's striking, when I compare my mother with my grandmother at the same age. My mother is now in the age, when my grandmother died and the difference is totally visible.
