I'm just a bit  Yikes at the different style dressing from the family - Willem, Alexia and Ariane completely casual and Maxima and Amalia are dressed in eveningwear.  It looks weird.

this also left me a bit puzzled.... 2 different styles for the same family at the same event....  would have understood if WAX and Max would go "formal" both for the role and maybe protocol but the girls at a concert.... Alexia and Ariane are casual while Amalia is dressed like an adult but she is just 17 ..... would have left high heels, coat and trousers in the wardorbe in favour of trainers and casual attire for that event...
I also was not a fan of the same look for the triple A's even when they were children, not a fan even for twins,  as at a certain age it was not appropriate anymore due to age, especially when Amalia was growing and she was still dressed like her sister 4 years younger
so this can be a result of the "now you can dress like you like...." and it happens they like it that way

Having the same children's look in Europe is normal, we all do it.  We tend to coordinate styles with kids.  It gets weird when they are no longer kids and the differences of style is so abysmal in a public function - half of the family is looking like going to a picnic, half of the other going to the opera.

I like how Amalia is dressed, but it looks weird to Alexia in skin tight pants and trainers. Not to mention Maxima's lace black suit with some serios jewels and Willem business casual.

For Kings Day knowing that the cameras will be there the skin tight pants are not appropriate... fine for her personal time but as a member of the RF .... no

just my opinion the concert in the pictures does not look like a "serious" event but more a fun time event... so maybe a casual look would have fitted better for the occasion, of course it could have been agreed upon by the whole family and not half in a way and the others in another .... just make an example to better explain my point if we go to a wedding, the whole family gets my "memo" no jeans and trainers for today (also for me...)  if we go for an outing with friends everyone is free to dress as they like ....
then of course being the RF and with TV to broadcast the even the skin tight trousers may have not be the best choice, maybe a pair of trousers like the ones Ariane wore were better. Btw it looks the dutch RF is not so into the looks of the girls and they leave them free to do as they like, I would justify them with being young and with  time to get into the "role" properly... jmo anyway Grin

I always wonder what the royals carried in their purse?  Breathe freshener?  lipstick?  Mobile?

Well not a mirror.. that coat reminds me of the Blue Poles painting by American artist Jackson Pollock which was acquired by the National Gallery of Australia back in the 1970’s ... I still wonder “what were they thinking” and ask the same about that coat

The concert in the evening of Kingsday was indeed not a 'serious' event. They just visited the repititions of The Streamers.

Photos from the opening night of King's Day

Actually, this was not the 'opening' of King's Day. It's at the Koningsspelen (King's Games). The King's Games is an annual sports day for children in the Netherlands. The event is organized every year in April, on the last Friday before King's Day. If that day falls on Good Friday, it will be held a week earlier. This happened for the first time in 2019. The King's Games is an initiative of former tennis player Richard Krajicek and is organized by the Krajicek Foundation and the Johan Cruyff Foundation. The first edition was held on April 26, 2013, on the occasion of King Willem-Alexander's accession to the throne four days later. Since then, the event has been organized annually. Healthy eating and active exercise are central during the King's Games. Many primary schools in the Netherlands serve a joint breakfast prior to sporting activities. The content of the sports day is the free choice of the participating schools and municipalities. Every year, more than 1.2 million children from more than 6,000 primary schools participate in the King's Games. These are schools in primary education in the Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten, the Dutch schools abroad and the islands of the Caribbean Netherlands: Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba.

The event has been criticized from various quarters. For example, the 'King's breakfast' offered by Jumbo was unhealthy according to the Nutrition Center and "food watchdog" Foodwatch. There was also grumbling from republican circles. In particular, its compelling nature (in most municipalities it is a normal school day) and the alleged personality cult of the king that it would entail were offensive to some. In order to ensure that participation in the King's Games would from now on be voluntary. It was also found that some schools were scrapping their own annual sports day in favor of the King's Games. In the three major cities, a decrease in the number of participating schools has since been observed.

Every time WA and Maxima will attend the start of the King's game in various Dutch places. Before Corona, WA and Maxima also took part in the accompanying breakfast. This year, both visited Amersfoort

Well here’s a glimpse inside Queen Elizabeth’s handbag! I’m sure Max’s would be along similar lines (sans mirror!).

Is there a single color or print that Maxima can’t wear and make it look good?  I do love her in jewel tones, esp the rich burgundy here.  With her exuberant personality, she pulls off things most people would never wear.

I think personality is somewhat different to fashion but I agree that she takes chances that many others would not.

I suggest you research Natan who has been dressing her in a style that many would not want to be seen in for a long time.

I agree Emac - she just sparkles, no matter what she’s wearing - even if it’s a little OTT.

What's with Max and these leather gloves? The kids are all wearing a t-shirt and nobody else is wearing gloves, so it couldn't have been that cold. Itz's not the first time. that I am puzzled about her gloves.  Nerves

Maybe she gets eczema on her hands, maybe she has Raynaud's, maybe she has a germ phobia
