CP Haakon of Norway recently opened the Norwegian Parliament on behalf of his father. He was wearing a blue sash, could anyone tell me what the sash is? I'm presuming the collar worn was the order of St Olav?

Also, CyrilSebastian may I say what a wonderful job you do on this board creating really interesting posts and allowing us all to learn about royal history  Star

Yep, the collar is the Order of St. Cyril.  The blue sash with its badge are the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit. He's also wearing stars for both orders, the St. Cyril star on top.

Isn't it? I love learning about all the different orders. They add so much color and interest to outfits, particularly the men's.

Thank you for thinking of me. When I see the name Cyril, I sometimes think of Grand Duke Cyril Vladimirovich of Russia.

King Louis XI of France reaffirmed tradition by making the feast of "Saint" Charlemagne a holiday and by founding the knightly Order of Saint Michael.
