It is not only the younger generation who let their old stuff getting altered. Among Queen Bee did it:



 1995 - Prinsjesdag

1998 - Wedding of cousin Prince Maurits and Marilene van den Broeke


Not visible on the first picture, but the seam, lowest part of the dress was originally longer. But I couldn't find an image of the full dress in 1995

A lot of times, the alteration is at best a "Verschlimmbesserung" a turn to the worse. Mary's reddish medival velvet dress is an exception as is the darkening of the annoying BiBoyellow dress of Maxima.
The sea foam green dress above is however a sad case of "why did they ruin it?"
