When I was younger I would follow gymnastics, but in later years I got less and less interested. I have to confess I am a person who doesn't watch much sports.
I used to follow the Winter Olympics for the ice skating and skiing events, but I kind of drifted away from it as well. Loved Grinkov and Gordeeva, boy that will date me ...
I loved them too! I first started watching figure skating when Dorothy Hamill was skating. And gymnastics with Olga and then Nadia. After Nadia gyms exploded in the US. I went to one called Sportopia for two years. Then I hit tall and lost my balance.!
One of my favorite childhood memories is watching the Olympics. I used to compete on a Synchronized (now Artistic) Swimming team and was so annoyed that it took so long to be recognized as an Olympic sport.
But I loved the gymnastics and swimming in Summer and the skiing and skating in Winter.
I do really hate what the IOC has become though, making women compete in what are basically thongs and, Mooreís, the horrible grifting at the expense of the countries bidding to host. I hope after the disaster of these games things will come back down to earth and the games will become games again.
