The pink stone was found by the Canadian geologist Mr. Williamson in Tanganyika, and became the wedding gift to Queen Elizabeth II in 1947
Cartier was commissioned to create a setting for the cut diamond, and the pink became the main feature

The Cullinan V Brooch
The 18.8 carat heart-shaped brooch, made by Garrards, was originally worn by Queen Mary, as part of the suite of jewellery made for the Delhi Durbar in 1911.
Queen Elizabeth II inherited the brooch in 1953, and wore the brooch many times.
