Beloved actress, comedian and American icon Betty White has died, just weeks before a milestone birthday ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Betty passed away at her home just before 9:30 AM Friday.

Well, everyone's reporting it, it must be true. What a way to end 2021. Her husband and all her fur babies were waiting on the rainbow bridge, it must have been a joyous reunion.

It's a strange coincidence, but we lost four alumni from the Mary Tyler Moore show this year: Gavin MacLeod, Ed Asner, Cloris Leachman and now Betty White.
