Sure it was...
I can't blame her. Seriously, I would probably mention QEII in every other sentence, while I straigthen the tiara, that would also very likely never leave my head..

Out of interest, were/are Charles' opinions of Sarah known? I could imagine he somewhat shares his father's views but Sarah's inclusion in recent royal events suggests perhaps a more lax attitude?

She was in a hard place. If she hadn't given credit to the quote, the media would have blasted her. She could have named dropped a lot more, by saying, "In the words of my late mother in law, her late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the Second..."

I mean, the easiest solution would have been to not use the quote at all, but it's a damn good quote. I think she rode the fence nicely.

It is a damn good quote. I lost a friend suddenly last year and I think of it often in reference to her.

This was a jaw dropper - she gave an interview to People saying that her grandchildren follow her around as if she is Peter Pan, and calling herself “Super Gran Pan”. Ok, I know none of that family are good at reading comprehension (Eugenie deciding that reading a passage about Jay Gatsby that reminded her of her new husband would be a romantic inclusion in her wedding) but surely she understands that even in the most bowderlized versions Peter Pan is a narcissistic eternal child? (and in the original he’s a psychopomp and a representative of all the children that died before they could grow up, but I’m sure she doesn’t know that)

She’s a piece of work. So proudly selfish. I don’t know why I’m continually astonished by her, but she gets under my skin somehow. She must be a nightmare to live with so I’m glad Andrew still has her in his life, he deserves her. I hope they have to move to a two bedroom bungalow together.

But the bolded describes Sarah!  And, if you add: "greedy" "spendthrift" "grifter" it's just icing on the big crap cake.   I can't stand her.

He is a grifter and she got caught out... I don’t think he wanted to divorce her but he was pushed into it... they are still together... and unless his brother makes conditions on financial support I don’t see it changing

She's just an idiot. She is like Peter Pan and doesn't understand that it's not a cute, funny thing. What a ridiculous, spoiled woman.

She married Peter Pan. I do wonder where Edo and Jack sit in all this.

They probably just roll their eyes a lot.

In all honesty, she missed her calling - she would have been a great host on a children's TV show.

Seriously though, they are not the first men to fall in love with women who have crap parents.

Her grandchildren probably think she's great, for now.

Just so no one else has to go searching, here is the passage Bea read at Genie's wedding. I think it's rather romantic:

Quote
"He smiled understandingly - much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced - or seemed to face - the whole eternal world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favour. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey. Precisely at that point it vanished - and I was looking at an elegant young rough-neck, a year or two over thirty, whose elaborate formality of speech just missed being absurd. Some time before he introduced himself I’d got a strong impression that he was picking his words with care."

It's really too bad that Andrew was royal and also that he served for so long in the navy. If he and Sarah had just been aristo country folk with their horses and dogs, I bet they'd be happily married today, and few wiffs of scandal would have surfaced. Clearly they were suited for each other.

If they were aristo country folk they'd have lost their estate since Sarah is so terrible with money.

Well, there is that to consider. how is Andrew with money? Any ideas? Presumably he now has a chunk of change from his mom's estate.

Well, his current rent is  only $250 per week at Royal Lodge, all 30 bedrooms and 98 acres of it, so presumably he has some cash in hand. It was widely speculated that QE helped him make the payment to VRG.
