Beatrix came and comes across very business like most often, but over time she also showed her soft side. Even at (official) events.

Perhaps she was also very lucky with her late husband Prince Claus. Who unfortunately was only recognized by the main public for what he was later in life and marriage.

She has her flaws, but indeed she did it better than her son and daughter in law.

I don't think that a business like approach is any bad, quite the contrary.

I'd say based on what we see now in the Dutch RF it was definitely not a bad thing!

Beatrix celebrates her 86th birthday at home

Princess Beatrix celebrates her 86th birthday today. The former queen does this in a "domestic circle", the Government Information Service said.

Last year, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Amalia were not in the Netherlands for Beatrix's birthday. They were on a working visit to the Caribbean part of the Netherlands. Willem-Alexander then said that he had called his mother to congratulate her.

The birthday princess still appears in public. This week she attended the equestrian event Jumping Amsterdam and on Monday she attended a symposium.

Outgoing Prime Minister Rutte congratulated the princess on social media. "Princess Beatrix celebrates her 86th birthday today and I would like to congratulate her on that. I wish her a festive day with her loved ones and many years to come in good health," he writes.

Beatrix was born on January 31, 1938 at Soestdijk Palace as the eldest of four daughters. She was queen from 1980 to 2013.

Princess Beatrix spends her 86th birthday at home

Princess Beatrix celebrates her 86th birthday on Wednesday. The former queen is spending this day at home, the Government Information Service told NU.nl.
Beatrix had to spend her last birthday without her eldest son Willem-Alexander and his family. The King, Queen Máxima and Crown Princess Amalia were then on an introductory visit to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.

There is a good chance that the princess will eat a piece of sachertorte on Wednesday. According to pastry chef Cees Holtkamp, the Austrian chocolate cake with apricot jam is her favorite cake.

Despite her age, Beatrix is still active as a princess. For example, she visited a symposium last Monday and went on a working visit to Curaçao and Aruba in November.

Beatrix was born on January 31, 1938 at Soestdijk Palace as the eldest of four daughters. She has three sisters, Irene (1939), Margriet (1943) and Christina (1947-2019). Together with Prince Claus, Beatrix had three sons, Willem-Alexander (1967), Friso (1968-2013) and Constantijn (1969). Beatrix was Queen of the Netherlands from 1980 to 2013.

Princess Beatrix gets her own musical with a new theater in Best

Update: 4 days ago

There will be a musical about the life of Princess Beatrix. A new theater is being built in Best for the musical.
Production house MediaDome announced Beatrix the Musical on Tuesday. The musical is about all the moving events in the life of the former queen and about situations within the royal family.

"We have been thinking about this unique idea for years," say producers Alex Mensen and Okke Verberk. The play should premiere in the autumn of 2026.

An existing hall in Best in Brabant is being converted into a theater especially for the musical. "A year and a half ago we started looking for a suitable location where we could stage the musical in a grand and spectacular way," say the producers. "We found this location."

MediaDome approached the princess and asked if she would like to contribute ideas about the performance. But the former queen did not respond to this.

Well she is certainly blessed with good health.

I think there are several very good reasons she would be a great role model for Amalia:
A) the QueenBee was the Queen regnant just like Amalia will be - unlike her mother who (which is probably new to Maxima)is not!
B) QueenBee understood that it was never about her, but about the crown, the position and the image - unlike Maxima who runs the Max-show. I think QueenBee's concept of Queenhood being a job like a CEO is more palatable to Amalia than the personal stardom of her mother.
C) the QueenBee too is a rather private and strict person, more alike the shy and introvert Amalia.
Also I could be very wrong, but I think that Amalia might have inherited her grandfather's introvert and pensive character, which the QueenBee should have more experience with - while WA appears not to have one intellectual cell in his body and Maxima doesn't do pensive or intro.
