Good outfits - while the blankie is back at the second event (and it has been an abysmal summer so far) neither jacket has these atrocious bat-sleeves the QueenBee usually favours. So well done!

Abdication clearly agrees with her.
And it seems as if so far she’s enjoying pretty good health and is able to get out and about to do all kinds of fun things. I think there are several other senior Royals who would do well to follow her lead

Plus, I really love that intense cobalt blue on her. Over the years, I’ve not felt she had the best color sense in terms of clothing, but this was a winner for sure and the fact that she’s wearing one of those hats makes it even better.

Almost 3000 euros for drawings (made) by young Princess Beatrix

Two drawings that Princess Beatrix made when she was young were auctioned for almost 3000 euros. The works are Ballerina's and Field with dogs. The latter is signed with the letters TVO: Trix van Oranje.

The auction house does not mention in which year Beatrix made the drawings. They are probably from her early teens, which would mean the early 1950s. The works are both smaller than an A4 and colored in, the dogs with pencil and the ballerinas with watercolor.

The drawings were auctioned yesterday evening in Hilversum. People could bid from 2000 euros. After more than forty bids, the lot was sold for 2985 euros.

According to the auction house, the drawings came to the previous owner via a former employee of Princess Juliana, Beatrix's mother. It has not been announced who bought the drawings.

Beatrix was Queen of the Netherlands from 1980 to 2013. Since her abdication, she has lived at Drakensteyn Castle in Lage Vuursche, a few kilometers outside Hilversum.

Update: 3 hours ago

Drawings that Princess Beatrix made when she was young have yielded 2,985 euros at an auction. The two sheets were auctioned on Wednesday evening.
One of the works is called Field with dogs, made by "TVO", as can be seen at the bottom. This abbreviation stands for Trix van Oranje. The other artwork is one of ballerinas, made with pencil, watercolor and collage.

Auction house Van Spengen in Hilversum sold the works. Beatrix probably made them in her early teens.

The drawings were kept by a descendant of a former maid of Queen Juliana, who had received them from Beatrix at the time. The family would like to see the drawings end up with a true enthusiast and collector.

Two years ago, drawings by the former queen were also auctioned. The five works were then sold for 8,000 euros

If I am correct as a child she was indeed known as Trix or Trixie.
It is BTW sometimes also a nickname used by others, especially when jokingly referring to the former Queen.

I think we sometimes refer to her as Oma (grandma) Trixie. I know that this is how I think of her since her abdication.

The last day of Princess Beatrix's visit to Sint Maarten and Saba begins in the maritime research laboratory of the Saba Conservation Foundation. The underwater life around Saba is being studied here. After a tour and explanation on the growing and expelling of the herbivorous sea urchin that plays a crucial role in the restoration of Caribbean coral reefs, the Princess visits Queen Wilhelmina Park. This park will be renovated with the support of Jantje Beton. Children and residents have redesigned the park that takes into account the different needs of play, encounter and nature.

In the afternoon Princess Beatrix visits the botanical garden of Saba opened in 2019. Here Junior Rangers of the Saba Conservation Foundation explains the current reforestation project and the birds that live in the park. They also demonstrate the so-called seed bombs that contribute to biodiversity.

Finally, the Princess visits the youth center The Spot. During a tour, the Princess will talk to young people about the UNICEF program 'Children in Hun Racht', where young people will share their thoughts on how to make the island even more child-friendly. There is also a conversation about the campaign 'Raising Our Future', in which positive parenting is discussed.

Princess Beatrix on visit to Sint Maarten and Saba: 'I am always very happy here'

By our entertainment editors

Update: 2 days ago

Princess Beatrix thought it was "fantastic" to visit Saba and Sint Maarten. The working visit of the 86-year-old former queen focused on the work of the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance and social initiatives.
"I am happy with a visit like this to get a good impression of the enthusiasm of the people here," Beatrix told the journalists who traveled with her. "It is always cheerful and pleasant here. I am always very happy."

An important part of the program was her visit to the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA), an organization that is committed to nature conservation on the Caribbean islands. Beatrix was impressed by the efforts for environmental protection.

"I am so happy that people here are serious about nature and believe that they should do their best to keep it beautiful," the princess said. She also emphasized the importance of support from a distance. "It is nice if we can help them a little bit every now and then."

The visit began on Wednesday and Thursday in Sint Maarten, where the princess met local initiatives and residents. On Friday, Beatrix was on Saba, where she visited a maritime research laboratory and a botanical garden.

It is not yet clear whether the princess will return to the islands soon. "I never plan far ahead," she joked.
