Well, there are worlds between her and Leonore's pictures. Her outfit is creased, her neckline resembles MT of Lux at some events and she is posing - again. But at least she finished school.

Well, the suits looks like its linen so its hard to avoid. Some seem to think Leonores is not appropriate either. The head tilt seems to be getting less. It will be interesting to see what she does next..a year out and then uni. Maybe avoiding Amsterdam Uni.

I was coming to say the same about the linen. The white suit is good on her. I think she is a pretty girl with lovely hair whose only 'sin' is to behave like other teenage girls on social media. It irritates but is not at all uncommon

I quite like Alexia's white linen suit which is very fashionable this summer.  Anyone knows if her sisters attended the graduation ceremony ?

Yes, both sisters were reportedly there, but I haven’t seen any photos with them.

I couldn’t find a more recent Alexia thread, but here is a photo of Alexia, her diploma and her parents. Congratulations, Alexia! https://twitter.com/gerts...;t=wu6S4-r_-26rNkatVPTezA

She’s wearing a nice white linen outfit, and looks pleased. I hope she enjoys her celebration!

The Royal Family shares new photos of Princess Alexia's birthday (18)

Update: 14 minutes ago

The Government Information Service (RVD) shared new photos of the middle daughter of Willem-Alexander and Máxima on Monday. That's in honor of her eighteenth birthday.
The photos of the princess were taken in May 2023 by photographer Frank Ruiter at Paleis Huis ten Bosch, the residence of the king and his family.

Princess Alexia will celebrate her eighteenth birthday on Monday in the presence of at least her godparents and grandmother. That is what Queen Máxima told the press last Thursday after the state visit to Belgium. One of Alexia's godparents is Queen Mathilde of Belgium, although it is not known whether she will also come to The Hague on Monday.

In honor of her birthday, King Willem-Alexander appointed his daughter Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Netherlands Lion and Knight of the House Order of the Golden Lion. This also includes an award flag. It is the same flag that Princess Amalia received when she turned eighteen.

A party has already been celebrated this weekend
Máxima let slip that "all children" will be home together for the birthday of her middle daughter, who until recently studied in Wales. It won't be a big party on Monday. "It's a Monday so that doesn't go very well, but we will do something this weekend."

When asked about the fact that her middle child is now also an adult, Máxima said that it went very quickly. "Well, when I think about the photos from ten years ago when my husband became king, those girls in those blue dresses have become very tall ladies now. And very nice people."

Alexia recently graduated from high school. The princess was in Wales for two years, where she was educated at a prestigious boarding school. Her younger sister Ariane (16) will leave for Italy at the end of the summer to complete the last two years of her grammar school there.

NOS News

Princess Alexia 18 years old, can now become head of state in an emergency

Princess Alexia turned 18 years old. This means that the second daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima is also an adult. Alexia is second in line to the throne, after her sister Amalia. She can now actually become head of state if her father and sister were to disappear.

She celebrates her birthday with the whole family at home in The Hague at Paleis Huis ten Bosch. Queen Máxima said on Thursday after the state visit to Belgium that the birthday would not be celebrated on a grand scale, because it falls on Monday, but that it would be celebrated with family and friends over the weekend.

Flag and award
From a constitutional point of view, the fact that Alexia is 18 has no direct consequences, as was the case with Amalia. She also receives no benefits from the government. However, she will make her first appearance on Prinsjesdag. From today she also shares the award flag that Amalia received from Willem-Alexander when she turned 18, an orange flag with a blue cross with three weapons on it: the National coat of arms, the blue hunting horn of the House of Orange and a red castle from the Zorreguieta coat of arms .

In addition, it is customary for the children of the head of state to be appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Netherlands Lion on their 18th birthday.

Alexia turns eighteen: more ceremonies, but first a big party

By Danja Koeleman

Update: 32 minutes ago

Alexia turns eighteen on Monday. Where Amalia's birthday revolved around the fact that she is heir to the throne, the middle daughter of the royal couple does not have to worry about that. Still, a few things are going to change for her from now on.
"I have the freedom to choose what I want to be when I grow up," said Princess Alexia during King's Day 2021 in Eindhoven. "I like that I can do something with my own interests later on."

That freedom starts for Alexia on Monday. She then turns eighteen, has just graduated and is therefore taking her first steps in adult life.

According to rumors, the middle princess will study in Groningen after the summer holidays. Alexia was seen there during an open day, although that does not necessarily mean that she actually registered. The Government Information Service cannot comment on these rumors to NU.nl.

What Alexia will do for studies or what ambitions she has is still unknown. "We know that she is very musical," says royalty expert Justine Marcella in conversation with NU.nl. "Just like her aunt Inés (who died in 2019, ed.) and her mother Máxima. But I don't think she chooses her studies based on that."

Marcella thinks Alexia is taking a gap year, just like Amalia. She also sees the princess studying abroad. According to the royalty expert, Alexia is lucky that she has already been able to gain some 'anonymous' experience abroad. She recently resided in Wales, where she completed her secondary education at a prestigious boarding school. "She was able to be an ordinary girl there for two years. She could go to the pub in peace."

"Alexia is glad she doesn't have to take over"
While Amalia is slowly being prepared for her future kingship, Alexia has little to worry about. She is now second in line to the throne. But if Amalia drops out, Alexia is not immediately eager to ascend the throne.

"I once said in an interview with Renate Rubinstein when I turned eighteen that my brother Friso said: 'You can beat him up but not kill him, because then I have to do it'," said King Willem-Alexander in the newspaper. podcast Through the eyes of the king. "That repeats itself in the next generation."

"Alexia says she is very happy and supports Amalia in everything, but she is especially happy that she does not have to take over. So as sisters they are very kind to each other. They support each other."

"She's number two," says Marcella. "On the one hand, she can choose what she becomes, at the same time she is the reserve. But if you are born in that nest, you are ready anyway. The Oranges take it seriously, prepare for it."

If both Amalia and Alexia do not want the throne for any reason, then the now sixteen-year-old Ariane is next in line. "I think that also means the end of the monarchy," Marcella continues. "I assume that is not necessary and that Alexia and Ariane can just organize their own lives."

Alexia makes her appearance on Prinsjesdag
After two years of school in Wales, that life continues for Alexia in The Hague. "For Máxima it is nice that she has her family complete again. Also for Amalia: the three sisters have a close bond."

The middle princess is expected to be seen more often next to her parents and sisters. Because of her education in Wales, for example, she had to miss King's Day last year. Alexia will answer questions from the press more often at the age of eighteen. For example, the media can also ask her questions during the annual summer photo session this Friday.

"And we will also see her in September, on Prince's Day," says Marcella. "As soon as Alexia is eighteen, she can sit next to her parents and sister in the Glass Coach." And so we might get to know Alexia a little bit better.

Before Alexia has to think about such ceremonies, it is time to celebrate her birthday. "I think that is celebrated in a big way," says Marcella. "Amalia turned eighteen during the pandemic. So this time they will celebrate fully. Partying is in the DNA of the Oranjes."

Unusual but interesting photos for a young womans birthday,, she is looking so serious.

I have a feeling that the photographer was inspired by the old Dutch masters such as Vermeer's famous picture of the girl with the pearl earring. Many of the paintings of that period have that very dark background.

I could see that theme for photos of the king, but it's very odd to me for a teenage girl's birthday! She looks kind of unpleasant and snobby (which isn't great because she can come off like that normally anyway) Confused

Its a shame they didn’t go for one with a massive smile. Maybe someone has their eye on their future career? (Model, fashion designer etc) But the dark background didn’t look good for Amalias so not sure why they wanted to repeat it.

I believe that Alexia had a right to say about those photos. The lack of posing and smiling and the serious dark background was probably chosen by herself or on advise of her parents.
I think that she is aware or was made aware of  the criticism about her posing attitudes and the video that got thru from her group at the school in Wales.
Maybe that is why she wanted to show another side of her, seems almost like a statement "I am a serious person and don't pose all the time"
She is as the spare not in a position to appear as her cousin Eloise who thinks she can do whatever she wants without loosing respect of the people who are connected with royals.

I almost feel sorry for her because it seems she can't do it right.

She's a beautiful young girl with all of the resources in her hands, I wish her happy birthday... and wise decisions in the future!

I agree it would be nice to have a simple photo with a wide smile. She's so young!
I like her dress.
