Saw this Kate Mansey @KateMansey Replying to @KateMansey While they can stand in for her alone on other occasions, Charles and William will be required to act together in a ‘quorum’ when performing official legislative duties on behalf of the Queen; eg opening parliament; appointing new High Court judges. And this Here’s the statutory authority for the Prince of Wales & Duke of Cambridge to carry out the Opening (not State) of Parliament tomorrow morning, s6 of the Regency Act 1937 This is the first time Royal authority has been delegated to Counsellors of State since the Queen visited Malta in 2016, and it’s the first time Counsellors of State have opened Parliament in the long history of that ceremony I pride myself on well-timed @commonslibrarybriefing papers - I published this on the history & ceremonial of the State Opening of Parliament last week; includes all you need to know about previous absences of monarchs: https https://researchbriefings...nts/CBP-9501/CBP-9501.pdf

As hard as it will be to live in a world without the queen, I kind of hope that shortly after her Jubilee, she goes. She's steadily declining and considering how independent she is, I know it must really bother her to always miss things, and to back out suddenly, etc. I want her to have a lovely Jubilee where she is celebrated and adored and once that has died down, she just simply passes peacefully in the night.

She is of a generation that always seems to have a firm grip on when it is their time. My great grandmother was ill for weeks up to her 100 birthday then on her big day made a miraculous recovery, enjoyed everyone visiting her, got her birthday card from the Queen and in the afternoon while most the family had gone out of afternoon tea together quietly slipped away content to have reached her milestone birthday and got her much anticipated message from the Queen.
I suspect HM may be the same as sad and morbid that sounds.

https://people.com/royals...longest-reigning-monarch/Couple of weeks and she will move into second place. In order to get first, though, it'll be another three years basically. I don't think she has that in her.

Parliament seems to have its hands full with scandals of one sort or another. Can't imagine CoS being a priority for them, or anything to do with the RF.
Anyway, several generations have only known Elizabeth 2 as the monarch. It will be a strange and sad time for the nation and world.

Apparently she only stayed 45 minutes. To watch Lady Louise I guess. She looks great though! Chris Ship @chrisshipitv · NEW: The Queen seen arriving by car at the @windsorhorse Show this morning It’s the first time she’s been seen in public since Prince Philip’s thanksgiving in March. The Queen is a big fan Royal Windsor Horse Show. Photo from @victoria_ward

Yes I really hate hearing the “deaths door” commentary if she doesn’t show up to various things. (Not on RD but more in the news or twitter, etc). I care for an older person who has a common ailment which is old age vertigo. She never knows if she will have vertigo or not so she has to cancel things last minute and just sit in a chair all day. Old age vertigo is fairly common and is often untreatable. You just have to wait it out until it goes away. One of the biggest reasons for old people falls is their vertigo.
