Much has been made of Kate's vast wardrobe of coats and coat dresses. The late Queen certainly had a closet crammed with coat-and-hat combos. And lately Camilla has been showing up in some rather sharp-looking coats herself. All of which leave me with a giant case of coat envy. Here in Northern California, it's relatively rare to see women wearing dress-length wool coats. I guess we really don't need them in our usually benign weather. But the royals' coats always look so pulled together, so appropriate for the season, and, for the most part, so elegant. Sigh . . . . I most of the time can make do if it's chilly by just tossing a shawl over a dress or wearing a cardigan or wool jacket.
