Funny, I really like the outfit at the japanese coronation - and since I really can't stand purple, that is to say something! But I didn't realise it was such a filmsy fabric.

Im supprised Isabellas dress is especially made by Lasse Spangeberg, his dresses usually fit Mary like a glove, and it is clearly to tight. Rather unwise to give her a high slit and a low cut at the same time, she was clearly struggeling with the slit in the wind and the cape looks like an aftertought, much like Ingrid Alexandra and her scarf. When they are so young they should get help to choose dresses they dont have to fuss with. He hair and makeup was very pretty and young.

I thought IA's scarf/shawl worked really well with her dress even though it wasn't part of the design of the dress. The shawl worn backwards slung across her front and shoulders looked contemporary.
It's different than Izzy's red "capelet" (don't know what to call it). Izzy's looks very dated. Something an old woman would wear (I'm thinking the "Golden Girls").

According to Lasse Spangenberg's website, he specializes in custom gowns. He doesn't have a designer collection of dresses.
So you get a client who has no taste or original ideas like Mary or Izzy. They say what they'd like based on some image in their head which may have nothing to do with what looks good on them. Then he makes the dress. So you get what Izzy is wearing - and probably for a very high price.

Meanwhile designers like Jesper Hovring have some beautiful contemporary styles in their collection that of course Mary doesn't choose because they don't fit her image of a princess.

http://jesperhovring.dk/w...oads/2017/10/hvring07.jpg - something a 50's star would wear
http://jesperhovring.dk/w...08dedc867643d1e32f0b7.jpg - lovely, easy shape would flatter any body. Just raise the neckline a bit.
http://jesperhovring.dk/w...1340b49131fa55c52a337.jpg - love how this one moves - just not in yellow and get rid of the bow.
http://jesperhovring.dk/w...38ebe54b7cee6e9deaa4d.jpg - perhaps something Mary would choose. The A-line skirt would suit her better than the pencil cuts she usually chooses. The lace on this is much prettier than the reworked Jesper Hovring lace dress she wore to the gala.

I think Mary has this one or something similar. But it didn't look good on her when she wore it. Perhaps because she didn't style herself like this model. I remember her makeup and hair were horrific. I think these flirty styles with the shoulders slightly askew don't suit her. She needs more straighforward styles.

Yes she does - affectionately known as the "Bambi dress" (actually a skirt and top) worn first in it's original form to collect a BAMBI Award for her charitable endeavors  Whistle. It actually looks quite good here;

She then mixed it up with a velvet over thingy for the NY Court in 2016;

She wore it again in 2018, with the original top, for a gala banquet.

Ok, this is pretty impressive altering, to take an evening gown and make it appropriate for a much less formal event!

Also I LOVE that sparkly midnight blue look in the previous post; probably one of my favorite royal evening looks ever.  (Not the look with the velvet cape, the original BAMBI look)

I wouldn't call it an alteration, if you wear a jacket or coat or something on top a sleeveless dress.
Though to be fair, why she thought those colours matched is beyond me..

I've often seen fawn/sandy/driftwood colours paired with pale aqua, looks quite a pleasant combination to me.
