His Highness the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani will make a state visit to Spain from May 17 to 18.

The Emir of Qatar and his wife will be received by Their Majesties the King and Queen, who will offer a Gala Dinner in their honor.

During his stay in Spain, in addition to holding a meeting with HM the King, he will meet with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez and will pay a visit to the Senate, in which the Presidents of the Congress and the Senate, Meritxell Batet and Ander Gil, will award to him the respective Congressional and Senate Medals. He will visit the Madrid City Hall, where the Mayor of the city, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, will present him with the Golden Key of the City of Madrid.

With this visit to the highest level, the Kingdom of Spain and the State of Qatar raise the bilateral relationship to a strategic level, with the signing of Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding in various areas of collaboration, such as economics, investment, education, judicial, health and scientific, among others.

Great, a state visit.  I really hope to see a Tiara on Queen Letizia! The last State visit from Qatar was strange.. I wonder if she received some jewels from Qatar, if yes it would be nice to see them..

I doubt very much Felipes new rules allows for jewellery gift from dubious regimes like Qatar. I think lavish jewellery gift from arab countries is a thing of the past in most monarchies…maybe not Britain

They have not been allowed to receive expensive gifts for a while now. last time the expensive jewels and watches for F&L and girls from MBS all went to national heritage.

Didn't Mozah have wanted one of Noor's daughters for her son ? Had marriage gone down, the brother wouldn't have been treated so badly in Jordan.

King Felipe went to the El Pardo Palace to greet Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, emir of the State of Qatar, who begins a state visit to Spain tomorrow, on his arrival in Madrid.

I’m thinking perhaps the most recent one? Quite often the first wives are related or political allegiances and then they choose the next partner

This is Sheika Jawaher, his first wife. I believe that this is the first State Visit in which she has accompanied her husband, who normally traveled alone.

I like QL's dress.Sheika's white ensemble and the Emir's blue tie coordinate with her dress or viceversa.  I guess Sheika Jawaher must be used to high temperatures and the material of her outfit is not as warm as it looks. Expected 30şC in Madrid today. A very warm welcome too.

I like Leti's dress, shoes and clutch very much.  The Sheika is a friendly guest,  cleaning the floor with every step she walks.
