Love does not judge where you come from or who you are as a human being. Love creates a bridge between people, cultures and religions. And we are happy to have found each other, across continents, ethnicity and social background, the couple writes in a press release.

No date has been set for the wedding, and the couple will continue to live on different continents in the future.


- Have patience with us. We will announce everything when the time is right, but until then we will continue to celebrate love. Maud, Leah and Emma are looking forward on our behalf, and it's an exciting time for the whole family. However, we ask for your understanding that the children in this period ahead will be able to enjoy the summer in peace and quiet.

The couple is currently in Los Angeles, where Durek Verrett lives.

In connection with the engagement, they have shared a picture where they smile and look each other in the eyes. The princess has a gold ring on her left ring finger with turquoise gemstones surrounded by what appear to be diamonds.

- Love makes us expand our horizons, makes us open our eyes and look past what we thought was possible. Love does not make us blind, but makes us see opportunities, gives us faith in ourselves and each other from completely new points of view. We are grateful to have found each other and found a new life partner in each other, they write.

Märtha Louise has children Maud Angelica (19), Leah Isadora (17) and Emma Tallulah (13), who she had with her ex-husband, author Ari Behn. Behn took her own life on December 25, 2019, and the princess has said in an interview with TV 2 that Durek Verrett helped her get through the dark times.

- He was the only one who managed to be there, to be present. He was very much there for the children that period. That he was there was very important, she said.

Have considered moving to the US
The Princess and Verrett confirmed their relationship in May 2019. Shortly afterwards, they went on the lecture tour "The Princess and the Shaman" together, which they received some criticism for, among other things, for mixing commercial interests and the princess title. In retrospect, the princess has stopped using the princess title commercially.


The princess has said in several interviews that she is considering moving to the US with Verrett.

- He initially wanted to move to Norway, but then he came to Norway, and it was not exactly that very cozy, she said to TV 2 last year.

The couple was followed by the Norwegian press during Durek's first visit to the country, and there was also some public noise surrounding the publication of Verrett's book "The Shaman's Journey"

Her mangaer confirms she is in LA and will be home soon. I assume her kids are in Norway as school is not yet finnished, atleast for the smaller two.
I find that timing strange and only ten days before the great celebration of Ingrids 18th birthday.
She better hope the Norwegian press is as respectful as usual and dont go search for her kids (Or Aris family for that matter) for comments.

She must therefore be considered quite far down on the royal substitution bench. The probability that she will wave at the children's parade on May 17 with Durek Verrett by her side is not great.

Verrett has been a party for the internet since he appeared as Märtha Louise's girlfriend. It stimulates curiosity when someone calls themselves a shaman. As recently as last autumn, he emerged as half reptile and half something else mysterious.

For King Harald's position, this does not matter. Some will feel sorry for him. Others want a sense that he is supporting his children in the choices they make.

For Crown Prince Haakon, it may be a more disturbing element. Sooner or later he will take over as regent. Big sister's inventions can cause some awkward distractions.

No title for Durek

"It is His Majesty the King who, by custom, decides whether someone should be given a title," Guri Varpe, head of communications at the Royal Palace, told Aftenposten.

Varpe refers to Article 34 of the Constitution: "The King is entitled to grant titles for those who have inheritance rights to the Crown".
