Interesting that none of the congratulations posts welcomed him to the family...just wished them luck! That stone is lovely and is being done no favors by the setting (which, to this American, does not look like a typical American setting).

The ring looks vintage or antique. I haven't seen any congratulatory messages from the royals but it sounds as if they're going the "damned with faint praise" route.

I don't know anything about him besides what I have briefly read today, but the fact that he was the "only one present" for her during her grief of her ex-husband's passing leads me to believe that he preyed on her when she was extremely vulnerable. After such sorrow obviously everyone wants her to be happy but it seems like this is concerning. I feel bad for her children who have no say in any of it.
Also, that ring is ugly.

The thought of Paltrow rubbing shoulders with Harald and Sonja, just  This whole Insta influencer celebrity lifestyle is so unreal, so meaningless. It's a shame she's gone down this path and dragged her girls with her, she was raised to do better. |

Crayola  That's what I first thought too! She's a whackadoodle, he's a grifter, it's a match made in Disher heaven. Those poor girls, hopefully someone is looking out for their best interest. I would consider that fugly ring what my mom called a "dinner ring". It's too gaudy, big and flashy for an engagement ring which is IMO should be classy not flashy. They can claim it's "American" but most engagement rings by tradition are diamonds, things are changing but that is not the norm over here JMO |

Well if they are happy great for them. He is conman and I believe it will end in tears (though I don’t actually hope for that at all) I hope they decide on marrying very quietly somewhere in private with just family so Harald and Sonja can attend without having to be with all their hanger on, “celeb”friends. Have a big California party on their return for those friends and the couple and if Haakon etc want to fly out so be it. The messages from the RF strike me as a bit colder than I’d expect, as does announcing their engagement while in America in a way but maybe that is just for PR reasons and the Royal Court trying to create distance. I wonder if Harald and Sonja have been comparing notes with Elizabeth II  |
