I'm disappointed she won't be at the state dinner. I always love to see the dress and tiara.

A funny fake Dear Santa letter of Prince William is going round on internet:

Dear Santa:

When I was a child, my father cheated on my Mom and didn't love my family.

Later, my parents divorced.

Soon after, my mother died in a car accident.

My brother and I could only live in my grandma's old house.

Grandma's sister was an alcoholic.

The whole family lived on my grandma's savings.

Grandma recently died.

My Uncle Andy is barely keeping himself out of jail from day to day.

My brother left home and won't talk to us any more.

Dad, now 73, had to go out to work to support the family and eventually he is going to want me to do the same thing.

Yours sincerely,

Prince William

She is doing two engagements in two days, maybe that is what she has been cleared medically to do. Perhaps she wants to be at home with the children in the evenings.

Exactly. Understandable, but if I had to pick an event for her to attend, it would definitely be anything that calls for a tiara!

I agree that I would love to see her in gown and tiara. But if she simply did that and skipped the day events, then there would likely be criticism for focusing on the glitz and glamour event while not being present during the day. Sad for us, but I think she has chosen wisely

Very good point.

I also think, given that she missed the diplomatic dinner, that the effort required to prepare for a tiara event (hair, MU etc) is just too much for her at the moment, which I totally get. It was also obvious from the Remembrance Day events that an evening event is extremely taxing for her. I don't blame her for wanting to go home and relax on the couch in her sweatpants.

I HATE the part about Charles not loving his family. This is just blatantly untrue, it was always (and still is) very obvious that Charles loves his boys very much. Using that logic you could also say Diana didn't love her family because she galivanted around France with a new boyfriend, or when she pursued other women's husbands. This narrative of Charles as the bad guy is old and tired.

I hate that narrative too....
Clearly he loves his sons and family and painting him the bad guy is old story that is well and truly over is tiresome and annoying

Plus from a "training" experience, Kate has been to a fair few state banquets in her time. Welcoming guests at the start of state visits she has less experience with and imo is more important than the dinner aspect.

Also, not wishing to speculate, but her diet due to her cancer and treatment may have changed drastically. I'm sure the last thing she'd want is to eat in public and risk stories being told of how little/what she was able to eat or drink.

Sad news today but news that was expected.

A teenage photographer who inspired Catherine, Princess of Wales, after pursuing a photography bucket list while facing a rare form of cancer, has died.

Liz Hatton, 17, from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, died in the early hours of Wednesday morning, her mother Vicky Robayna announced on social media.

On X, formerly Twitter, Ms Robayna said that Liz had "remained determined to the last" and was still making plans for her future on Tuesday.

"We are so very proud of the kindness, empathy and courage she has shown in the last year," she wrote.
