Nice speech from Will, referencing both his new Colonelship, his prior experiences with the Welsh Guards, and also mentioning his father's pride in his 48 year tenure as Colonel.
I may be among the few, but I think Kate looked smashing today. I am inured to her turning up in a new coat by now, and she did match nicely with the Guards. I like her hair up in the chignon, her hat was smart and I loved the cut out gloves.
She seemed particular vivacious and 'on' today too.
I liked the way they wore daffodils yesterday for the more casual engagement, the Leek badge was much more proper and fitting for today. There appear to be several Leek badges. HLM's was larger, of platinum set with diamonds. Diana also had one and Camilla's is reportedly gold set with diamonds.
I am guessing that if indeed Diana and Cam had different badges, Catherine has Diana's.
FHMJV:
And the same can be said for The Prince of Wales' current wife, The Duchess of Cornwall, who also has a leek badge. Hers is in gold and also looks to be diamond-set. The similarities make it difficult to tell the brooches apart, but I believe that the version worn by Diana is different from that worn by Camilla. They are both different from the larger brooch worn by The Queen, as witnessed when both The Queen and The Duchess wore theirs on the same day.
As for wearing tendrils with a chignon or other updo, I think that is best left to formal evening occasions like State Banquets.
