The one thing I always notice about Anne is that while I don't necessarily agree with her color or fabric choices, her clothing is all always exquisitely tailored. I wonder who it is who is responsible for that? I can't quite imagine her leaning on an Angela Kelly type person.

I would think she has someone at Gatcombe who oversees her wardrobe - maybe among other tasks, as her clothes are always in mint condition and she keeps her clothes for years - and years and years . . .

As for tailoring, Anne must patronize someone, or several someones over the years who not only custom makes clothes but also impeccably tailors store bought garments.

I know some other members of the family that could learn from her.

And she still has that super fit body. She can wear things from 50 years ago without tailoring.

Anne's dresser is (or certainly was) a Miss Veronica Cain who has been with her since the 90s. Whatever we think about her fashion choices the clothes are certainly kept well and cared for.

The Princess Royal's time warp wardrobe is managed by her live-in dresser, Veronica Cain, who has worked for her since the Nineties.

The garments are thought to fill a wing of her 730-acre country home, Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire, where each outfit is meticulously catalogued, dust-wrapped and stored in cool surroundings — together with its matching accessories — to ensure it stands the test of time.

I've also heard her talking about how she loves buying British made fabric (she is patron of The UK Fashion and Textile Association) and having it turned into a tailored suit.

Anne reminds me of a family friend who was always impeccably dressed in classic clothing styles, flattering colors (over the years) and shoes that stood the test of time. But most of all, she gave the impression of being comfortable in her clothing choices, wasn't intimidated by 'current' fashion fads, wore all types of jewelry (from old to new) that fit her clothing choices all the way down to shoes. I have always kept the family friend in mind when choosing clothing that would stand the test of time. Though it took me a while to get it in order, I think I have a good basic wardrobe for public and family occasions that fit in with those occasions and celebrations. And, I always thank her (in my mind, she has passed on) for her fine example. Seeing Pss Anne in her activities remind me of that.

I do have clothing that pass out of fashion quickly but for the important family occasions I always return to the classics that I observed from this beloved family friend.

In years to come I'd love to see an exhibition at KP based on Anne's fashion. Sure it wouldn't have the couture level of the exhibitions on Margaret or Diana in recent years, but it would be excellent to see the tailoring and use of British textiles which Anne has staunchly supported over the years.

I think she has a certain kind of taste that isn't for everyone. My sense is that she really understands the cut of her clothing and, when she misfires, it's more in the area of colors and prints. And I do wish she'd do something other than that pouf for her hair but that's unlikely to change at this point in her life.

I thought the lines of her first wedding dress were really exquisite. She had a great understanding for how to take some medieval features and update them.

On a slightly different note the royal family website is currently advertising for two posts in Anne’s office- programme manager and office secretary. Looks as though her hard work is continuing for sure!

Ha yes the article points out this was after Kate wore black gloves to the Baftas well I bet anything those black gloves on Anne are older than Kate!!

Anne has a perfect figure but I think one reason her clothes from ages ago still look so perfect is that they are altered to her current figure. Because even if she is still as slim and trim as she has always been, a woman's body (actually a man's too) change over time and I think her clothes would show that, had they not been altered.
This plus very subtle changes to make sure the dresses and skirts have a more up to date length and or sleeves are more modern... There are some pictures in which you can tell, that eg. a sleeve was changed or a lapel was trimmed.
