Felipe, Leti: where are you?

Whatever the politics surrounding this, one cannot deny that it was an amazing royal turnout for an obviously much loved family member and friend. His children, siblings and wife's siblings all looked devastated.... Anne did a great job representing UK and it was lovely to see her warmth when with the bereaved family. Did anyone spot Tatiana Fruchaud (Radziwill)? She's often around Sofia and Irene, hope she is ok...

In the pic lula posted, with Anne Marie holding the flag, in the left we see Daisy in tears. I was surprised!
From my personal experience the final moments are the worse...that's when you realize you're not going to meet that person again  Cry
Poor Anne Marie  Cry

I love Princess Anne...there's definitely something about her and her strength that's so reassuring. In the pics with Anne Marie she's showing the same attitude she had during late QE funeral when she was greeting the crowds: always a smile, always engaged.

On a side note, Leti looked so regal today

Max was a mess but Willem-Alexander wasn't much better. In close-ups from the church, he looked scruffy and unkempt.

In other news, Farah of Iran was definitely in attendance. She was seated next to Simeon of Bulgaria in the church.

Nikolaos has seemed shattered throughout the whole thing. You could tell that he was devastated even when they visited the PM’s office to agree on the arrangements. It was really sad watching him because I think he was making an immense effort to hold back tears.

Pavlos seems to have been handling it the best, and he seems very composed. Alexia, Theodora and Philippos cried a bit at times. Anne Marie also looked devastated but seems to have cried a lot at the burial. She was married to Constantine for 58 whole years! It cannot be easy to leave without him.

Leti, like Kate, is someone who does mourning well.

I don’t understand Max at all. Why is she wearing a veil/mantilla, when not even the spanish women are? Maybe she thought they would?

I don't find Max's wearing a mantilla to be objectionable. I had always heard that women were expected to have their heads covered at Orthodox churches. And I notice that Queen Sofia had one that appeared to have slid off her hair and was more or less draped around her neck.

I love the elegant austerity of all that black clothing.

I wish Anne-Marie many years of good health, happiness with her family, and some future fun adventures. I know  first hand how hard it is with a husband in failing health and how much that has taken from her.

Not according to greek orthodox church but to russian one. We don't cover our heads - actually is an insult to have our heads covered, males and females.

Roman Catholics also cover their heads (either hat, mostly chapel veils/head scarves)

unmarried women = white; married women = black

But Maxima converted to Protestantism when marrying Willem, so I don't why she's wearing one.

More thoughts:  why Radu by himself?  Is Margarita not well?  Does anyone know who the young woman with Noor is?  Or the lady covering her mouth in the photo with Farah?  I thought it was interesting that Christian of Hannover was there and not his older brother.  Did anyone see any other German cousins?

Maxima stayed a catholic but agreed to raise her children as protestants. I think Noor's daughter the unmarried one accompanied her. Ernst August and his wife were both there.

I did not know that about Greek orthodox with respect to head coverings. But then, all my Orthodox friends are Russian. Had no idea there was such a distinction between the two branches of orthodoxy.

If I'd been Maxima, the mantilla would have been my first instinct as well. Too bad somebody in royal protocol didn't tell her that was a misstep.

I saw a photo from their wedding, looks like Anne was a bridesmaid.  The photo of her and AM was very sweet, I doubt I've seen her hugging someone so dearly before.

It was dignified and well attended as deserving a good man, husband and father. God rest his soul.

I think it depends on the country (even the region) and the generation.

Thank you to everyone who explained things, and posted pictures today.

The cemetery/gravesite looked so forlorn, but i can understand Constantine wanting to rest there.

Anne and by extension Gabriella, was the best person to represent the BRF at this time. I am sure the family received calls from both KCIII and the PoW, giving their sincere condolences as well as their regret at not being able to attend. Thanks also to Zazoo for letting us know what Charles was doing today.

I didn't know about the head coverings either. I noticed Sophia seemed to have a veil too, but it was down around her shoulders. Poor Max looked a fright, she would have been fine with no veil and shoes not boots, but altogether they were discordant. I take it the her veil must have been pinned in place.
