I used to think that Albert looked like a Philadelphia beat cop with Irish roots. Now that he's older and has a little gravitas, I think he looks like a Philadelphia district attorney with Irish roots. Not much of his daddy's DNA has ever showed up on his face.

February 27
Albert visited Padua, the Italian city located in Venice for a scientific and cultural visit.
Albert began his visit to Palazzo Bo, the historic headquarters of the University of Padua that celebrates its 800th birthday this year.

Accompanied by Professor Daniela Mapelli, dean of the University, the Sovereign was able to discover various historical halls including the oldest Anatomical Theater dating back to 1594 as well as the "Aula Magna", a classroom in which Galilee taught mathematics there.

He then participated in a seminar during which He has presented the work carried out by the University on sustainable development.
After lunch in the presence of Padua Mayor Sergio Giordani, and other city representatives, Albert visited the Botanical Garden where he first visited the newly opened Botanical Museum. Then he continued his journey through the garden and the different greenhouses of biodiversity. The world's first university botanical garden, "Orto Botanico", founded in 1545, has been classed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997 It belongs to the Italian state but is on a permanent loan to the University of Padua, which, since the garden was created, has been the sole entity responsible for its management and maintenance.

In the afternoon, he was received by Father Antonio Ramina, rector of the Basilica of Saint Antoine of Padoue. During this visit, he visited the chapel of the relics of St. Antoine and his tomb, the chapel of the Blessed Luca Belludi, the Chapel of St. James, the altar, and the choir.

Destination for millions of pilgrims each year and a place of international worship, the Basilica of Saint Antoine is also an unmissable monument of architectural history and art, including fourteenth-century painting.

The day ended with a visit to the laboratories of the Foundation for Advanced Biomedical Research, V.I.M.M. Established in 1996 by Professor Francesco Pagano, the Foundation is one of the pillars of excellence internationally for cellular and molecular biology research. It promotes and implements scientific research projects in an academic context.

This principle visit will allow for exchanges with the University and the Foundation for Advanced Biomedical Research for future collaborations between Padua and the Principality.

March 13
Albert visiting Monaco territories
As part of his regular trips to the territories historically linked to his family, S.A.S. Prince Albert II visited the Var department in Ollioules, "city of flowers and the olive tree".

Albert was welcomed by the mayor of Ollioules, Robert Beneventi as well as by the prefect of Var, Evence Richard. At the entrance of the city, he, along with the mayor and Cyril Piazza, president of the French Association of Historical Sites Grimaldi of Monaco and Mayor of Peille, unveiled the signboard of membership in the network of the "Grimaldi Historical Sites of Monaco".

Albert and his delegation then walked to Saint-Laurent Church to attend a ceremony in memory of Charles Grimaldi of Antibes-Cagnes, bishop of Rodez, buried there in 1770. His newly restored memorial plaque, identical to the one laid at the time, was unveiled at a blessing celebrated by S. Ex Mgr Dominique Rey, bishop of Fréjus-Toulon and by abbé José Ansaldi, curator of Ollioules.

His walk continued through the city to go to the primary school "Le Château". Surrounded by the mayor, local authorities, school principal Sandrine Fina, teachers, and schoolchildren, the Sovereign unveiled a third plaque intended to commemorate His visit to the very place that was, in the 18th century, the residence of a Grimaldi who served as a squad leader in the Navy in Toulon, and who was the brother of Bishop Rodez.

After a meeting at the Town Hall with the authorities, the Prince received on Marius Trotobas Square, in front of the large population, the honorary citizenship of the municipality as well as a magnificent olive tree, a tree that gave the city its name.

March 16
Albert unveiled a statue of his mother, Princess Grace in Newport, Ireland.
An unveiling took place in the presence of his cousin, JB Kelly, members of the Kelly family and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ireland.

Albert got personally involved in this project by choosing the image of the sculpture depicting his Mother, created by artist Mark Rode. The city of Newport wanted to pay tribute to the Princess as the Kelly family hails from Drumilra, located just outside the city.

Gabriella doesn’t look happy. What I find so adorable is they are “still” holding hands. That’s not forced, that’s a choice. Love Jacques outfit. ☘️

It is funny how there is (IMO) zero resemblance between Caroline and Alexandra and Alexandra and Charlotte. I know they are only half sisters, but ... those Hanover genes are very strong.
