Amalia looks lovely in the pant suit. I’d like to see her hair up, but I suspect it’s her Linuses’ blanket, and she likes to keep it flowing.

I think she looks better in this, I don't mind the hair so much. I would prefer if she ditched the sunglasses. They might be practical in that climate, but she look a bit distant.

Sounding like a broken record, but despite all the wonderful hair tutorials on youtube, just about 90% of my students wear their hair like that and the others usually do a messy bun or tail. About the idea floating around here, that it might have been better for her to do several small events on the home turf vs going on such a tour: I am torn! Firstly I believe I remember her having done a couple of visits with her Dad (and some with the entire family) so it is not like she has never done anything like this before. And secondly, I can imagine that a tour like this might even be easier: at home there might be even more photographers catching her in unflattering ways (which shatter a self-conscience young girl) there are much less mobile phones from on-lookers (because less on-lookers in general) that again might make her uncomfortable. The tropics are fun, easy-going, lovely weather, people will probably not scream at her, the engagements can be chosen to be fun and relatively calm. And all in all, the press pack chosen to come are far more sympathetic and kind.

So she wore a flimsy chiffon (!) dress on the first day which included a ride on board of an open boat to the mangrove woods, but wears a pant suit for a rather formal event? I don't get it. Perhaps she should ask grandaunt Margriet for help who is the only woman in that family who is not sartorially challenged. And take your effing sunglasses off when greeting people,. Same goes for her attention whoring mother.

Hi, it's me popping in for a bit. Elementary school kids were invited* to welcome the DRF. My kid was very excited. When I asked her today how it went she was thoroughly unimpressed because she didn't see the point of only yelling and jumping up and down. "Mamma, they already know Aruba, why did we have to go stand in the sun with no water and just scream. That's dumb." *summoned

I love the pants suit. It seems age appropriate and suitably formal for a young woman. More of these, please.

Love this pant suit outfit - love it!
I think she is doing a very good job, especially given the parameters and expectations her parents seem to set.

Her wardrobe is fine and I'm sure she's a lovely girl but I don't think she's happy. She must be nervous for her first official trip but I just don't think she's happy for whatever reason. Her mother's big personality maybe doesn't help.

I agree with you. I see genuine interest in people during one on one stuff. Maxima is a lot to be in the shadow of and Amalia seems to feel comfortable in the shadow at the moment. She and her parents clearly love each other. I will continue to hope that a few more years of figuring her own way and then learning the ropes will help. Her parents are relatively young and healthy she will not be queen for quite a while hopefully she takes some comfort in that.

"What would life be without art? Science prolongs life. To consist of what - eating, drinking, and sleeping? What is the good of living longer if it is only a matter of satisfying the requirements that sustain life? All this is nothing without the charm of art."

Yes that pantsuit is not flattering... too much heavy fabric. If she wants to go that style a more floaty fabric would be better

And the sun glasses have got to stop. Occasionally here and there at active events, ok. You do not wear them at any type of official greeting…or under the protection of a tent. (I blame Max for this one.)

You wear them with friends and family or maybe going food shopping (not that she will be doing that) otherwise you are just "blanking the people you meet. For plebs like us - OK as noone shows up to meet me or pays a fortune for me to be there .... the entitlement of Max and Wax is beyond belief - his mother never did the "uber rich aristo royal thing" the way they do - yes we get it - you have $xxxbn to spend - put it to good use. Charles donated $1.4bn from recent enviro actions from his duchy to support general programs in UK in hard times when he could have kept it all. What a difference . . . . but Max needs more clothes and CA too - next time perhaps a stylist can improve both - not sure there is a way to improve their attitude
