The money she intends to keep will go towards her staff/security, travel, and other living expenses. These expenses would have been paid by her parents (either from their stipend or their personal wealth).

Only a fraction will be spent on gala dresses. None of it is (haute) couture. Altered yes  bespoke no.
Jewels aplenty in the family, no need to buy new.
And attending state banquets and other official functions are part and parcel of her preparations for her future role.

Whereas her younger sister comes across as a nepo baby, CA actually is very serious, and very aware of the scrutiny she faces. I am pretty sure that she will be well-prepped for her future role, just like her dad and her grandmother were. The optics may be suggesting otherwise (in part because of Max'  exuberance) but the family knows darn well how to survive and thrive.

can CA choose to abdicate and go and marry some spanish hunk...

This is a high contrast photo that eliminates the midtones that gives depth and softness to rounded parts of the face. This is the type of photo that is used to catch attention rather that present the subject in the most natural and/or flattering lighting. It is an unflattering photo. Does the publication have a low opinion of the subject?

IMO she looks very lovely in this photo.
Beautiful is mot what it is about - she looks striking (much like Chutters in that first portrait for the National Portrait Gallery with the dark blue bow blouse - she has been evolving into that portrait throughout the years).

You see echos of Max, of Wax, of Bea and Claus in Amalia's face, which IMO is amazing.
She will lose the puppy fat in her face, but will keep the "Orange cheeks" (also her granddad Claus'  cheeks). I can see the 45-year old Queen of The Netherlands in this portrait.

Honestly I don't think it's the most flattering photo of Amalia, and the black-n-white doesn't help. Amalia is a woman who needs her blonde hair, excellent skin and beautiful eyes to show up well.

She's a very pretty young lady who will age very elegantly I think. She has beautiful eyes and I love her cheeks. But the photo isn't flattering. I agree you need to see the color of her hair and rosy cheeks to fully appreciate her beauty. The angle of the photo could have been better, she looks best in a half profile IMO. It's not awful, but definitely not one of her best.

I agree she does resemble Claus a bit in this photo.  . Not just the cheeks but there is also something about her 'gaze' here that is similar. Never really saw it before but it's amazing indeed.

In my opinion, if we want to imagine how Amalia will look like in a few decades time, we just need to look at a picture of former cabinet minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen
