Eugenie strikes me as capricious. I have not liked her since she deliberately bumped Kates shoulder on a church walk and looked menacing while doing it. Like 7th grade hallway bump between classes, meant to insult and demean. It was a power move and obnoxious and ungracious and a move un befitting a “blood” princess. Miss Manners would be appalled. I don’t like her or trust her. She seems conniving, to me.
Which Christmas walk was this? I'd like to see the footage of it, not heard this story before

That link worked for me. It just looks like she is squeezing past William and Kate? I see zero maliciousness.

I don’t know how to read that situation but Kate can be hard to read sometimes.

It worked for me. Eugenie could have at least mouthed “Sorry”. Catherine looked a bit perplexed and stared at E. for a few moments.

I don't see an issue, Eugenie was squeezing past as she and Beatrice were meant to be helping the Queen who was being presented with flowers by a long line of children and HM had begun and they were stuck behind the rest of the family waiting on the steps. It wasn't malicious and she may not have even noticed she had made contact with Catherine.

ITA. I will add that this was Catherine's first Christmas with the BRF, and back then William was not as good of a husband as he is now. He should have given her a bit of prep as to how things go. IIRC it was also Lady Louise's first time attending the Christmas service and Bea and Genie were showing her the ropes on collecting bouquets.

Yes, entirely innocent! at the time I think it was thought that Kate hadn't really yet twigged what she was supposed to do at royal events - so didn't tend to do anything in case it was wrong. Eugenie spotted that the Queen needed help in collecting flowers and greeting people so squeezed past to go and do that - better really is she had suggested Kate join her

Those are all good observations! I’ll have to revise my thoughts, though I do like Beatrice better. Perhaps I was reading too much into the move.

Eugenie spotted that the Queen needed help in collecting flowers and greeting people so squeezed past to go and do that - better really is she had suggested Kate join her I think Eugenie was simply doing what was planned. My understanding is Catherine was expected to join Charles, Camilla, William and Harry in meeting people waiting outside (before the rest of the family joined them to walk back) while the Queen collected flowers from the line of children - assisted by Eugenie and Beatrice - before getting into her car with Sophie. In that sense the whole thing was planned out so it wasn't Eugenie's place to suggest Catherine go against the pre-planned sequence of events and join her in assisting the Queen, that year that job had been given to Eugenie and Beatrice. Everyone was doing what had been planned for them to do, the issue was Eugenie needed to get past those in front of her to do her job. Interestingly no one made similar issues when Sophie notable had to politely push past people to get to the front to get in the state limo another time.

There was a bit of protocol that went on - of which Kate was not apprised and hence didn't quite know what to do.

Thank you Ghost for sharing the clip I thought this would have taken place a few years ago, I didn't realise it was Kate's first Christmas at Sandringham. Given the context I don't see any maliciousness: Kate looks a bit lost and unsure what to do (completely understandable), and Eugenie, experienced in this type of event, is squeezing to get to her place/help HLM. I definitely didn't read it as Eugenie pushing her way in front as certain other royals have a history of doing. The York sisters are intriguing: I think both have their hearts in the right place, and have been brought up remarkably well considering their parents' behaviour. Maybe our knowledge of Andrew and Sarah inadvertently cloud our judgement of Bea and Eug. Neither woman has been a camera-hungry grifter, both have avoided genuine scandal/illegal behaviour. Both clearly love their family dearly. It would be nice to see them shine a little more, but I think their opportunity to have more of a public role has been ruined by, again, the actions of their parents. Also, this Christmas look is my favourite of Kate's!

Also, this Christmas look is my favourite of Kate's! I do believe Eugenie is the more fun-loving, spirited sister and both are loyal to their extended family. Beatrice has always been quieter and more reserved. Think it’s why Eugenie and Harry get along so well - similar personalities and temperaments.
