If that were the case I’d assume they’d stay at their current home Fischbach - I certainly wouldn’t want to move in next door to MT!

Perhaps MT doesn't want to move out of Berg Castle?
I am not sure if MT ever spent much time in Berg Castle. It is the official residence and very big and maybe not too comfortable. I think she spent most of her time in her apartment in Paris and Biarritz.
As the hair Gui has to take residence in Berg Castle and I have read that they want to build an annex to live there. There must be a reason for that.  When retiring Henri and MT should live at Fischbach castle which is much nicer (at least looking at it from the outside) but no announcement was made.
Therefore I guess they will spend their time in Paris, Biarritz and maybe Casaubon once they have retired.
Spending lots of money to build an annex where there is already so much space to live in, is a bit strange or a waste of money.
However the money comes from their private funds and they can do with their money whatever they want to.

MT basically lives in France, so I don't think she's the issue.

I do get why they'd want to keep a "private family home" - I don't think we've ever seen them host events or receptions at Fischbach since they moved in there so being faced with having to live somewhere you are expected to invite people to regularly must feel uncomfortable.

However, I'm not sure why they can't do as many royals or nobles do and carve out a very private "apartment" in Berg Castle for themselves. It is possible surely, unless the Castle has a lot more staff working from there than we've thought.

or

Can't they move the majority or all royal functions to the Grand Ducal Palace? I know its not the biggest palace - its really small palace wise tbf - but they've managed to host wedding receptions, receptions after Jean's funeral etc so its not tiny either.

I like Gui and Steph and have no reason to doubt their judgement so I'll assume there is a good reason for their decision to build a new residence not do one of the above. But it does seem rather odd to me.

I think MT and Henri will probably "officially" move residence to Fischbach - this seems to be the tradition. But I think in reality they - or MT at least - will spend little time in Luxembourg. She doesn't now by all accounts soI really think its only when she is forced to. I think she'll live in Paris and Biarritz with visits to Cabasson and the Swiss chalet they own.

I wonder if Cabasson and the chalet "go with the job" and will now be Gui and Steph's or whether MT and Henri will cling on to them?

Prince François had a rose named after him - a Lux tradition that dates back to 1891. The baptism of the rose took place in the rose garden of Munsbach Castle

Their boys are adorable and happy. I wonder if they are going to have more children, even though they seem content with just 2

This is old news but I needed to work on a palate cleanser after experiencing the bad taste of the recent Norwegian Royals thread ...

I would love if Gui & Stephanie had just one more, perhaps a little girl 💝 but another adorable little boy would be just fine too 💙.  I wonder if they would use the name Alix for a girl (Stephanie's mother's name), "Princess Alix" would be very nice.

Awwww, I agree Gems, a much needed palate cleanser. A healthy dose of wholesomeness is needed with the Norwegian sh**show. Wouldn't it be lovely if they had a little girl? I hope they might try again once they get settled into their new roles, although their boys are so sweet I'll be quite happy watching them grow.

How adorable!  Icecream

I think Gui and Steph are copying Vic and Dan's method of introducing their kids to public life from a young age, and if Estelle and Oscar are anything to go by, it's for the benefit of Charles and François

Gemsheal seeing these pics = warm puddle of goo 🫠

Charles is still sweet (that missing tooth! ☺️) but I wonder sometimes if he doesn't rule the roost.

I still have tears in my eyes when I see Guillaume and Stephanie with their children. They waited so very long to become parents, but it is clear they are such a happy family.

They certainly do make beautiful children, who seem well behaved. I love that they take the kids to these events. None of this lets hide the children nonsense.
