Máxima’s worst nightmare is having to spend a whole week in The Netherlands, even the weekend. Maybe she could tolerate it when the kids were still living at home, but only just.

who called the paps I wonder

That really is an interesting question because she was there with her friend Janneke Dreesmann (also pictured). The Dreesmanns are a billionaire family and usually super private. Janneke's husband Marc owns the property where Amalia lives at in Amsterdam.

Really does seem they holiday a lot. I think its a bit different if they just move residences to another part of their country and still do duties but jetting off to Greece, St Tropez etc all the time is a bit much.

Especially after what happened during the pandemic, I find it more and more surprising that these trips are not really reported on by the Dutch media. Are they really that afraid of missing out on these dull bi-annual photo calls at the palace (which by the way always take place shortly before the family jets off to a more glamorous destination)?

Willem-Alexander's grandfather, prince Bernhard, basically invented the jet set lifestyle but at least he never really claimed otherwise.

An article about it in a Dutch magazine (often considered to be for middle aged, elder women Wink )

https://www.libelle.nl/ko...anneke-dreesman~beb57c42/

Loosely translated as:

Huh, what was Queen Máxima suddenly doing on the Côte d’Azur?

Janneke Dreesman, Queen Máxima and the lightning holiday in the South of France.

Text Ella Vermeulen
October 5, 2024

A normal person would long for her own bed after endless meetings at the UN, a speech that will partly determine her coming years and another trip to Brazil for a G20 summit.

A woman of the world like Queen Máxima does not suffer from that. After the meeting in Rio de Janeiro, according to the Argentinian edition of Hola!, she flew to the French Riviera for some rest, sun and fun with friends.

Judging by the bags in the photos, there was also some shopping: Domino Saint Tropez is a ‘boutique de vêtements pour femmes’.

Máxima & Co
The ‘tres amigas’ laughed and waved happily. Among them was Janneke Dreesman, who, together with her husband Marc, has been one of their neighbours at the holiday villa in Greece for a few years now. The Dreesmans have owned the student house that was rented for Princess Amalia in Amsterdam since 2018 and where she now lives with housemates and friends.

Máxima and Mind Us
Janneke is a lawyer, mother of six, charity tiger, board member of various organisations and was the one who helped organise the fundraising for Mind Us. Máxima is the patron of this foundation, it is very close to her heart. That is also where they know each other from.

Club 55
The group stayed on a yacht, but travelled by rubber boat to Club 55 on one of the beaches of Saint Tropez. Máxima wore a nice airy, let-it-blow dress with stripes, sturdy wedge heels, a hat and her shell earrings. So he had packed for business and autumn in New York, spring in Brazil and the late summer in the South of France. It was only a very short break: arrived on Sunday, Monday evening to the Netherlands and Tuesday morning back to work, opening a ballet school.

Some online found info about Janneke Dreesmann

Janneke Dreesmann, Board Member Stedelijk Museum Fonds and Cancer Center Amsterdam

Janneke Dreesmann-Beerkens is a mother of six children, obtained her Master's degree in Law at the UvA in 1990. Between 1990-1998 she worked as a lawyer at Loeff Claeys Verbeke (later Allen&Overy). In 1998 she started the Bio Gala (for the benefit of multiply handicapped children at the Stichting Bio kinderrevalidatie). In 1998 Janneke also became a board member of the Cancer Center Amsterdam (part of the Amsterdam UMC) where she is head of fundraising. In 2011 she joined the Amsterdam committee of Human Rights Watch and in 2013 she set up the HRW committee in Belgium as Founding Chair, Janneke is currently a member of the executive board of HRW. In 2021 she joined the board of the Stedelijk Museum Fonds and in 2023 Janneke was asked to help set up fundraising for the Mind Us foundation.

A good reflection of how she sees herself...front and centre at each and every family celebration

No sorry, I will put those sour grapes away because it's a great picture. I barely recoginised Martin, he looks like a lot his mother. And Ariane is super tall. I bet all of the Zorreguieta's are feeling slightly nostalgic about the fact that the baby of the family will turn 18 next year.

As per usual, Maxima could not face spending the weekend in the Netherlands and off she went again, to fancy Mayfair just in time for dinner with her besties. I assume she did not take the Eurostar?

Now that her kids aren't home anymore, she really doesn't like to stay in the Netherlands unless she really has to. Which is problematic for the Queen consort of the country.  Snare

Doesn't give a good vibe, but wondering why we don't hear about it more in the Dutch press/ media (media code??)

The media code is a one-sided 'agreement' with the press, imposed by the palace. I think it's high time for the press to dissolve that agreement on their own account. Maybe Ariane's upcoming 18th Birthday would be a good opportunity?

Quote
Polyethylene furanoate, PEF for short, is an alternative to traditional kerosene-based plastics. Queen Máxima opens the new factory of Avantium in Delfzijl, where the chemical building block (FDCA) for the fully vegetable and circular plastic PEF is produced.

The vegetable plastic is made from sugars and can be used for a wide range of applications, including bottles, packaging, foils and textiles. Avantium is the first company in the world that will produce FDCA and PEF on a large scale.

After the opening, Queen Máxima will be given a tour of the factory and will speak to employees and stakeholders about the possibilities of PEF, recycling and the raw material transition. Minister Hermans of Climate and Green Growth is also present at the visit.
