Being "over" Maxima

When I first got on this list, Maxima was a subject of great interest to me. I loved her wedding dress and countless times replayed the video of that section of her wedding ceremony during which she weeps when the musician played the Argentine tango music.  And I thought she was fun and  loved her big smile.

But now I just find her tiresome. She seems always overdressed to me, popping in to give the peasants a look at her latest high fashion presentation. I think she is wallowing in privilege a little too much. I don't get the sense of dedication from her that Oma Trixie always radiates.

I think her personality suited better in contrast to Beatrix's rather businesslike approach. Now the focus is on her and WA it grates as its a bit too much IMO.
I also think she and WA are much more "flash" than Beatrix who is very much "old money" in her approach - she went for quiet family holidays to Tuscany while they go for luxury holidays in the "it" area of Greece so they can use their uber expensive speedboat. I actually don't doubt Beatrix had just an exclusive, expensive lifestyle but it was always more discreet and it always seemed duty came first. With Maxima and WA it seems duty comes second or third after family and fun. Their actions in Covid really hit dented the public's perception of them IMO and, with WA being a bit too boring, Maxima stands out being colourful and loud and thus also attracts not only the photographers and attention but also the criticism.

Also I feel many of the same things can be said about the other married-ins. Which begs the question: why have the heirs not been better prepared for their role and why aren’t they getting the main blame for the new riche approach

I don't see anyone just giving flack to just the wives?  I think W-A, Fred, Haakon, have all taken their lumps of coal at times. 

I don't think this has anything to do with the wives being older.

ALL royals, married in or not, get to live in a big, privileged bubble and they don't get how fortunate they are.  Or in the case of the married-ins, they lose that sense. Eventually, it seems, even the best of them come across, at one time or another, as self-absorbed do-do's.

This lack or loss of - what is it?  Common sense? Humility? Knowing how regular people have to live on the daily? - makes them out of touch.

Yes, I suppose some of this can be laid at the feet of the heirs. Maybe there needs to be a ``married-in crown-princess school'' for the wives, but no participation without co-attendance by the spoiled princelings.

I think that Maxima is an intelligent and capable person who is also capable of making her own mistakes.

Just like Beatrix, she's a hard worker with very professional standards. Work hard and play hard. I think that's why they get on so well. On the other hand, Willem-Alexander has great social skills, but putting in the hours is not his thing. Very different in that respect.

She's always been very, very ambitious, But, being a queen, there is not much to aim for anymore. Her role with the UN and her attendanding WEF in Davos have been heavily critised over the last few years. And any new 'routes' she takes could be explained as too political. For example, she's talked about financial education and budgeting. But is it really up to a member of one of the richest families in the world to tell people to be careful with money? I think she really needs new advisors to sit down with her and draw up a plan.

On top of this, I think she's still struggling massively with the tragic death of her 'baby' sister Ines. To me it seems like she has not been the same since that happened.
